Organic Fine Dining? Yes, Please.

Gastronomy and a delicious dose of wellness – Aisha Hassan tries Mandarin Oriental’s latest culinary venture.

At an omakase-style counter in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, I watched buckwheat bread batter spread onto a hot stone – and baked within minutes. Light, delicious, and served with a guilt-free side of almond butter, it was the type of innovative cuisine that defined Mandarin Oriental’s Organic Wellness Lunch. This 9-course meal is a must-try for clean eating aficionados, who will revel in the intriguing and surprising combination of dishes.

In an age where we are increasingly health-conscious and increasingly pressed for time, this gastronomical experience – which can be fit into just over an hour without feeling rushed – is exactly what Kuala Lumpur needs. The interactive aspects such as harvesting your own salad, added a refreshing twist, while reinventions of long-loved dishes such as stuffed peppers, or asparagus and poached egg, provided a classic feel.

And dessert – avocado ice cream, fresh mango coconut espuma, kalamnsi gel, gula melaka – made for a memorable sweet ending. If you’re pressed for time, you can even opt for a bento box that highlights dishes from the set menu – now that’s sweet.

Priced at RM148 nett for set menu and RM90 for Bento Box, the Organic Wellness Lunch is offered every weekday from 12pm to 2.30pm. For reservations, please call +603-2830 8888 or email [email protected]
