If Four Weddings and a Funeral is one of your favourite films, then we have some very good news for you. The iconic ‘90s movie is set to be made into its very own television show, it has been reported by Deadline.

Star and writer of The Mindy Project, Mindy Kaling will write and executively produce the new series, although it is not clear yet if she will star in the show. Meanwhile, Richard Curtis – who wrote the original – is also said to be on board.

The story will follow the lives of a group of friends as they attend – you guessed it – four weddings and a funeral. It has been rumoured that each season could follow a different set of characters in a different location, but with the lead staying the same.

However, it is not yet known whether the TV show will be based in the UK or the US. There has also been no confirmation whether it will be set in the ‘90s or today.

The original film, which starred Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell, was a huge hit when it was released in 1994 and has gone on to become one of Britain’s most well-loved romantic comedies.
