You’re Throwing Away The Healthiest Part of Your Avocado

70% of its antioxidants could end up in the bin.

In fact, 70% of the antioxidants found in the whole avocado are in the seed, which contains more of these super-molecules than most other fruit and vegetables (more than green tea, even). Avocado seeds also contain more soluble fibre than almost any other food.

Now that we’ve vowed never to throw away the pit again, what should we do with it instead?

The best way to consume the seed is to grind it in a food processor and add the powder to a drink. Use half the powder produced by one pit per smoothie. Be warned it has quite a bitter taste, so it’s best mixed with stronger flavours.
