The casting for The Assassination of Gianni Versace could not be more accurate. The first official photos from the FX drama were published by Entertainment Weekly today, featuring the stars in the eerie likeness of their real-life counterparts. Take a look at Edgar Ramirez as Gianni Versace, Penelope Cruz as Donatella Versace, Ricky Martin as Gianni’s lover Antonio D’Amico and Darren Criss as his killer, Andrew Cunanan.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace follows the iconic designer’s murder in 1997 by Cunanan, an obsessed sociopath who met him years before. The series will be an onscreen adaptation of the book Vulgar Favors by Marilyn Orth, which revolved around the event.

Premiering in 2018, this next installment of American Crime Story follows last year’s critically-acclaimed The People v. O. J. Simpson. Showrunner Ryan Murphy told EW what it was like following up the monumental show with the Versace murder. “This is so dramatically different, and it’s about fashion and celebrity,” he said. “Everything feels like you’re jumping off a diving board for the first time because there’s no template.”
