With our wardrobes bursting with blush tones this spring/summer, the famous faces at last night’s Met Gala demonstrated the trend’s appeal for the face, too.
Stealing the smoky eye’s crown as most popular beauty look, pink peepers were worn by the likes of Selena Gomez, Jennifer Connelly and Taylor Hill (above) – all pulling the look off with aplomb.
Meanwhile Rihanna matched her make-up to her outrageous outfit, sporting rosy lips, eyes and blush applied excessively in a draping style made popular by Marc Jacobs Beauty make-up artist Gilbert Soliz.
Whether worn as a bold beauty statement or a knowing nod to the new season, pink make-up can be much more flattering than you’d imagine. Plus, as Jennifer proves, it’s not just for those 25 and under.
When tackling pink eyelids the key is eradicating any dark shadows beneath with an illuminating concealer. That way the hue won’t enhance a bad night’s sleep (never a good idea), but detract from one. Black mascara is a given.
Copy Selena on the less-is-more front. She beautifully balanced bold eyes with undetectable contouring and nude lips that speak current, rather than retro. Go try.
