24 Hours With Kaia Gerber

9AM On my perfect Saturday, I don’t set an alarm. If I make it to nine, that’s the dream. I can get ready in five minutes, but getting out of bed takes forever. I’ll lie around and check Instagram and listen to music. I really like Stormzy and Skepta, but when I’m starting my day I might go for something a little more chill like Billie Eilish.

9.45AM I’ll shower and put on my favourite Hudson Barbara high-rise jeans, a cropped T-shirt, and some Marc Jacobs mascara and highlighter. It’s a rinse-and-go type of situation.

9.50AM I’m passionate about breakfast. I wake up hungry, so I always eat a bagel. My family gets a dozen from this deli called Nate’n Al every weekend.

10.30AM My parents [Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber] and brother are my weekend squad. We love to go for a morning beach bike ride, but we usually have to wait for Presley to wake up because he’s the late sleeper in the family.

“My family and I love going for bike rides along the water. It’s been our thing since I was little.”

1PM I love to grab lunch with friends at Café Habana Malibu. They have really good steak tacos and a Cuban-style banana split with caramelised plantains. We might drop by Little Beach House after. Malibu’s a pretty small town, so you know you can kind of just run into people there.

3.30PM I usually use the afternoon to catch up on homework. I’m completing my diploma at Malibu High School through an online programme, and it’s difficult to get much done during the week, as the Wi-Fi on planes is really annoying. My favourite class this year is AP Calculus because I just like math. It’s definitely super hard to teach yourself derivatives, though!

7PM I don’t go a day without eating pasta. Penne with vodka sauce is my all-time favourite and is actually one of the things I know how to prepare myself. It’s very important to know how to make pasta because you can do it anywhere in the world. It’s easy, it’s fast, and everyone likes it.

7.30PM We have short attention spans in the Gerber family, so we’ll eat dinner fast and then put on a movie. The other weekend my grandmas were here and we all watched Why Him?, which is about a dad meeting his daughter’s boyfriend. I was laughing really hard. I think my grandmas were laughing even harder, but it was a bit traumatic for my parents.

9PM I’ll turn in as early as I can. I don’t sleep well when I’m travelling, so there’s nothing I like more than getting in my own bed. When I started modelling, my mom always said, “You’re gonna dream about getting in bed early.” I didn’t believe her, but after my first fashion month, now I do.
