When sports meets style.
Sports and fashion were once worlds apart. But, now the two industries are evolving—becoming increasingly integrated and cohesive. So, it’s no surprise to see infamous football clubs and Formula One teams with fashion sponsors and collaborations. With that, we curated a list of seven athletes who have recently collaborated with a fashion brand:
Here are 7 athletes who have collaborated with fashion brands:
Naomi Osaka & Yoon Ahn
The four-time Grand Slam singles champion, Naomi Osaka, doesn’t shy away from experimenting with her style. The 27-year-old tennis player is always making headlines with her court ensembles—the most influential being, a bright green look that’s complemented with a ruffled tulle skirt, white bomber jacket and an oversized bow. Most of her looks are inspired by her Japanese heritage. So, it’s no shocker, when Nike and fashion designer Yoon Ahn collaborated with her to create a capsule collection to celebrate the tennis player’s return to the U.S. Open. The line-up featured classic tenniscore silhouettes with a touch of contemporary.
Lewis Hamilton & Dior
Following his victory at the British Grand Prix, the recently-inducted global ambassador for Dior worked with Kim Jones to launch a lifestyle capsule collection that encapsulated his passion for snowboarding and nature. The seven-time F1 world champion, equally impressive in his fashion sense as he is on the tracks, is known for his sophisticated streetwear wardrobe. The collection draws inspiration from Hamilton’s African roots, comprising oversized knit sweaters, wide-legged pants and accessories suited for winter sports.
Angel Reese & KidSuper
A rising star in women’s basketball, Angel Reese broke the WNBA single-season rebound record and rose to stardom this year. Before KidSuper, there was her collaboration with Reese’s Puffs cereal. Later in the year, the pair extended their partnership and joined forces with a Brooklyn-based streetwear clothing brand founded by Colm Dillane, to introduce—the Reese Puff Duffel Puff bag. This meaningful collaboration inspired by her childhood speaks of her advocacy for young girls’ education, as ten per cent of the proceeds will fund the Angel C. Reese Foundation.
Coco Gauff & American Eagle
Recognised as the youngest player to qualify for Wimbledon’s main draw in 2019, Coco Gauff cemented her place in the tennis scene as one of the highest-paid female athletes in the world. In August, she released a limited collection with American Eagle, showcasing her love for denim. Having modelled and worked with the brand since she was 16, the 2023 Grand Slam champion’s bond with her fans through social media has given brands opportunities to tap into the Gen Z market.
Léon Marchand & Louis Vuitton
At just 22 years old, Léon Marchand has already managed to snag four Olympic golds and one bronze, a remarkable feat in his second attendance at the quadrennial sporting event. After signing on as Louis Vuitton’s brand ambassador last year, and being the first athlete to be sponsored by LVMH, the French swimmer was seen extinguishing the cauldron at the 2024 Paris Olympics closing ceremony.
Sha’Carri Richardson & Nike x Jacquemus
Easily recognised by her intricate jewel-studded nail designs, brightly-coloured hair and bold fashion sense, the American track and field sprinter stars in the campaign between Nike and French luxury house Jacquemus. The collection is a testament to the sprinter’s individualistic style that shines on and off the tracks which was created leading up to the Paris Olympic Games.
Jannik Sinner x Gucci
Announced as Gucci’s global ambassador over 2 years ago, Jannik Sinner is currently crowned the top player of men’s singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). At the 2023 Wimbledon, the tennis player made history by bringing into courts the first luxury non-white accessory, a custom monogram Gucci duffle bag—a genius scheme of spreading brand visibility that was worth the several rounds of seeking approval.
