Celebrating women.
Longchamp is weaving a narrative that resonates with authenticity and purpose. In light of International Women’s Day, the Parisian house has once again joined forces with the NGO Anaka. Since its inception in 2018, Anaka has dedicated itself to uplifting Madagascan women through meaningful employment, prioritising education for children, and nurturing the environment of their homeland. With Longchamp championing support for women, art, and young creative talents, this partnership goes hand in hand with Anaka, marking its third year running.
Drawing on its Parisian heritage and spirit of innovation, Longchamp harnesses its creativity to shape an inspiring and sustainable future. For the Summer 2025 collection titled ‘Live Green!’, Longchamp’s team and Anaka collaborate to create two exquisite pieces that serve as symbols of hope and change: the Longchamp x Anaka bucket hat and the reimagined Le Pliage Collection net bag.
The essence behind these chic additions spotlights the use of raffia, a versatile and sustainable material that is cultivated on the lush island of Madagascar. The art of weaving these fibers, which are known for their strength and flexibility, is passed down through generations. With this in mind, the high-botanical treasure, sourced from a variety of palm trees, takes the spotlight in the Longchamp Summer 2025 collection–a tribute to the energy of lush greenery.
No matter the destination, the Longchamp x Anaka bucket hat is proven to be your chic companion. Made from natural straw fibers, this accessory is woven by hand and interlaced with Longchamp’s signature leather label. And then there’s the latest iteration of the iconic Le Pliage Collection net bag–the Le Pliage Filet Mesh bag. Whether carried by hand or on the shoulder, this unique take on the net bag is brought to life with Russian leather accents and vibrant raffia fringes that mimic the look of freshly picked herbs. We can’t seem to turn our gaze from this stunning work of art.
This partnership has proven to be inspiring and impactful in 2024, enabling 40 women to work in the Anaka workshop and granting 66 children access to education.
Taken from a statement, Longchamp’s creative director Sophie Delafontaine expressed that, “When we first heard about the NGO Anaka, their initiatives in favor of the emancipation of women through employment, as well as child education and environmental protection, immediately matched with our CSR projects here at Longchamp. We are delighted to be partnering once again with these wonderful craftswomen, whose talent and savoir-faire are quite unique! Their handwork is the mark of a creativity which brings a deeper meaning to what we do.”
