Step through time with the daring and avant-garde; a series of Trapeze watches by Piaget that echo the spirit of the 1960s.
In a stunning unveiling at Watches and Wonders, Piaget has resurrected the audacious spirit of the late 1960s with its latest collection–the Sixtie watches. Tracing back to its heritage, the avant-garde aesthetic of these timepieces are bold expressions of femininity that echo the Maison’s rooted history.
Let’s rewind back to 1969.
The Piaget Sixtie breathes new life with contemporary elegance.
The Piaget family unveiled its iconic 21st Century collection at the Basel Fair, marking a significant shift in watchmaking and jewellery. Under the visionary eye of designer Jean-Claude Gueit, these stunning creations transformed into statement pieces. With a cuff-like silhouette and refined forms, the Swinging Sautoir was born.
Among these trailblazing designs, the trapeze shape emerged as a cult favourite–a nod to the famous trapeze dress by Yves Saint Laurent. Fast-forward almost 60 years, and the Maison embraces this rich legacy with the Sixtie. Adorned like a jewel, the Sixtie embodies a freespirited femininity that is as instinctual as it is inspiring. Its captivating silhouette strikes a delicate balance between geometry and elegance.
Crafted to perfection, the timepiece features a supple bracelet with interlaced trapeze-shaped links that caress the wrist. What’s more, is that the exquisitely chiselled gadroons on the bezel pay tribute to the legendary Piaget timepiece once owned by artist Andy Warhol. Adding to the elegance are the golden hour markers and baton hands that dance beautifully against a satin-finished dial, flaunting Roman numerals with a sophisticated allure.
Every moment becomes a captivating story with the Sixtie. A timeless piece that holds a piece of history, it captivates with its opulent details that define a golden era.
Whether worn on its own or with your everyday jewellery, the Sixtie exudes grace with its fluidity and lightness. For the self-aware, assertive woman, the Sixtie transcends mere accessory status; it invites her to redefine elegance on her own terms. With the Sixtie, Piaget creates a legacy that captures the essence of the present while inspiring the women who are destined to shape our future.
