Here’s to a new era for Chanel
Signalling a new era for the storied French fashion house, Chanel has revealed the appointment of two extraordinary talents as its house ambassadors, Academy Award-winning actor Nicole Kidman and rising star Ayo Edebiri. This dual announcement comes as creative director Matthieu Blazy unveiled his debut collection for Chanel at the Spring Summer 2026 show on 6 October, at the Grand Palais in Paris.
Meet Chanel’s newest ambassadors Ayo Edebiri and Nicole Kidman:
Nicole Kidman’s appointment as house ambassador represents both a reunion and a celebration of one of cinema’s most enduring partnerships. The Australian-American actor’s relationship with Chanel stretches back more than two decades to 2004, when she became the face of the iconic N°5 fragrance in a campaign directed by Baz Luhrmann. That collaboration produced one of the most memorable fashion advertisements of the century, cementing Kidman’s place in the House’s rich visual history.
“I am thrilled to be joining CHANEL as it begins its new chapter with Matthieu at the helm. As someone who has such an appreciation for Haute Couture, I am so looking forward to witnessing Matthieu’s vision for the oldest Haute Couture House still in operation and having the opportunity to wear what I know will be gorgeous creations. Chanel has always been ahead of the curve, shining a smart and gracious light on women, and I am sure Matthieu will be no exception, just like Karl did in his time.”
Alongside Kidman, the house also welcomed Ayo Edebiri, the Emmy-winning American actor, director and screenwriter whose meteoric rise has captivated audiences and critics alike. Known for her breakout role in the acclaimed series “The Bear” and her performance in “After the Hunt,” Edebiri represents a new generation of performers who refuse to be
confined by traditional boundaries.
The connection between Edebiri and Blazy appears to be rooted in genuine mutual admiration. The actor recently wore Chanel creations at both the Venice Film Festival and the New York Film Festival, presaging this formal partnership.
“Ayo is all strength, but at the same time, she is vulnerable enough to always put herself out there. She writes, she acts, she directs… Nothing can stop her. I admire her boldness, her beauty, her intellect, and her choice of artistic projects. She does it all while being incredibly kind and witty, with the warmest smile,” said Matthieu Blazy.
Both Kidman and Edebiri attended the highly anticipated Spring/Summer 2026 show on 6 October 2025, at the Grand Palais in Paris, where Blazy will present his inaugural collection for Chanel. This moment marks a significant milestone for the House, as it represents the first public showcase of Blazy’s creative direction.
The choice of these two ambassadors—one representing Chanel’s storied past and ongoing legacy, the other embodying its future and cultural currency—creates a powerful narrative for this new chapter. Together, they illustrate that Chanel remains committed to celebrating women of substance, talent and independence, continuing the tradition established by Coco Chanel herself.
