Café Kitsuné’s Barista Fox visits Kuala Lumpur
By now, everyone knows the cheeky Barista Fox. First introduced in January 2024, the whimsical Barista Fox, inspired by the expressive style of French illustrators such as Jean Cocteau and Jean-Jacques Sempé, has become the face of Café Kitsuné’s coveted merch line, including sweatshirts, t-shirts, tote bags, baseball caps, ceramics and tumblers.
This year, the Parisian-born fox is taking a trip around the world, stopping in Malaysia’s vibrant capital city, Kuala Lumpur.
Here’s everything you need to know about the limited edition Café Kitsuné Kuala Lumpur collection.
The beloved Barista Fox trades in his crisp white apron and blends in with the local crowd, donning a batik shirt adorned with the hibiscus flower pattern as he pours steaming cup of coffee with a vintage stainless-steel pot.
It’s a meeting of two worlds. French café culture has been capturing the attention of the world with its unexpected playfulness, such as the recent Waiters’ Race, also known as La Course des Cafés, in which waiters must race down the cobbled streets of Paris carrying a tray of coffee and croissant without spilling a single drop. The Parisian moustachioed fox now experiences Malaysia’s café culture, which is all about warmth in the passing down of recipes from generation to generation, the loving preparation of food and drink, or the way community comes together over a simple cup of coffee.
The full collection features Café Kitsuné Kuala Lumpur Relax t-shirts, tote bags, and mugs in a range of sophisticated neutral colours, including ecru, white and tapioca. These one-of-a-kind collectibles are definitely not to be missed.
