If your New Year’s resolution is to dress better, you’ve come to the right place. BAZAAR speaks to three Malaysian stylists–Mughni Che Din, Azza Arif, and Andrea Kee–on the topic of looking and feeling good.

Each stylist has more than a decade of experience working with a range of different clients, from celebrities and socialites to the general public. A common thread emerges from their advice: dressing well has to come from a place of positivity. It is a practice that should bring joy and comfort.

“In 2026, dressing better is really about intention. Know where you’re going, how you want to feel, and dress accordingly. Choose colours that light up your skin tone and materials that make sense for your day (and your mood). When your clothes work with your life instead of against it. When your clothes work with your life instead of against it, confidence sort of does its thing.”

“Dressing better is not about excess. Understand your proportions, lifestyle, and what makes you feel most like yourself, then invest in well-cut, breathable essentials that work hard for you. When fit and comfort are prioritised, you naturally look polished. And from there, personal style comes through effortlessly in the way you layer, mix textures, and wear each piece with confidence.”
– Azza Arif, Creative Director and Celebrity Stylist

Embrace and understand your body

“To dress better, you can start with getting to know your body type better! Generic rules of thumb aside, determine which is your favourite part of your body that you don’t mind flaunting, such as your waistline, shoulders, arms, legs, collarbone, midriff, and it’ll ease getting dressed every morning (while concealing your least favourite parts)! Of course, identifying with a specific style personality also plays a big role. Here’s wishing you a year ahead of acing getting dressed well!”
