3 Malaysian Influencers on How They Are Styling The Viral Adidas Jacket

Malaysian influencers, Alvin Tiew, Yaya Zahir, and Vivien Loh, give their honest opinion about the hottest item from Adidas’s Chinese New Year collection.

Adidas Originals first debuted a Tang-style, gender-neutral reinterpretation of its iconic tracksuit with the signature 3-Stripes on the Shanghai Fashion Week runway in October 2025. Its defining feature is the pankou, or knotted cord buttons, commonly found on traditional Chinese garments. After going viral online for its unique blend of eastern traditional elements with western streetwear style, it became highly coveted design–made even more desirable by the face that it was China-exclusive product.

With the launch of Adidas’s Lunar New Year 2026 campaign starring brand ambassadors Li Xian, Nana OuYang, He Yu, and He Cong, the jacket’s popularity has continued to skyrocket; dedicated shoppers have found creative ways to cop the jacket. Today, it is sold out in most Adidas stores all around China.

They are each known for their distinct style: influencers Alvin Tiew and Yaya Zahir are all about elevating basics while make-up artist Vivien Loh’s style is more eclectic and whimsical. Naturally, they are putting their own twist on how they’re styling the piece. Below, BAZAAR gets the lowdown on how they’re enjoying being the lucky few with this jacket.

“I had my friend in China bring it back to Malaysia [for me],” shares Sarawakian fashion content creator, Alvin Tiew. “I just got one piece—the grey one! To be honest, I got it at the earlier stage of the hype when it was still pretty accessible. But as of now, I’m pretty sure they are impossible to find, especially the grey and green ones.”

He adds: “It’s a fire piece, very versatile, but considering the weather in Malaysia, there are not too many options I could go for with styling. I style the jacket along as a top with a curved leg–or banana–pants on the bottom; you could go for the full Adidas tracksuit look, if you’d like. The fit pretty much goes with any type of sneakers too!”

Is the Adidas Chinese-style jacket worth the hype? “Definite worth it, I would say,” he answers. “It’s been a while since we’ve seen such versatile pieces like these, especially ones combining streetwear and Chinese Oriental vibes in this unique way.”

Vivien Loh

This Malaysian make-up artist was sent on a mission by her mother to find the Adidas Chinese-style jacket while she was on a trip to Shanghai, China. “I waltzed into the first Adidas store I saw, got the size and colour we wanted–it was the last piece on display, so we got it off the mannequin,” says Vivien Loh, recounting her stroke of luck. “I never saw it in any other Adidas store for the rest of the trip!”

“I like that it’s a nice shade of red–not too bright and blinding. And it’s a high quality material that is warm enough for winter, but thin enough to wear in Malaysia’s heat,” she continues. For Loh, she prefers to style it unzipped with a sleeveless tank top when in tropical climates, but notes that it layers perfectly with a collared long-sleeved top in colder weather.

Is the Adidas Chinese-style jacket worth the hype? “Very worth it because I was at a very Chinese time in my life,” laughs Loh.
