Futuristic dressing is in.
Paris Fashion Week opened with a spectacle, and Louis Vuitton set things in motion. From their starry front row line-up to the reveal of the collection, the show lingers in our brain. Crafted by creative director Pharrell Williams, the brains behind the collection has proven a point about setting trends. It’s not always about coming up with something now, but inventing styles that are made to last—silhouettes that transcend seasons to come. As models marched down the runway to an epic soundtrack—including the debut of “Sex God” by Jackson Wang featuring Pusha T—of cross-genre experience, you’ll know it’s set to be a runway to remember.
With futuristic dressing in mind, Williams envisioned a design approach grounded in practicality. A wardrobe that comes off as an essential need rather than something abstract. If there’s one thing we can’t stop admiring, it’s the understanding of a menswear silhouette as told by Williams. With dandyism at the core of the collection, Williams preserves the artistry through nods to the ‘80s, 2020s, and beyond. Beautifully blending future dandy and retro elegance, the collection sets the tone with its tailored yet sportier touches. New suits are displayed in reversible nylon or silk, vintage-like parkas and mock-necks are evolving to be a staple.
When it comes to textiles, the collection blends the classics with a contemporary flair. Think houndstooth, herringbones and checks, but infused with high-tech yarns that dance under the light, creating a shimmer that speaks of sophistication. The magic doesn’t stop there. Silhouettes are elevated with thermo-adaptive textiles in luxurious silk and chambray shell jackets.
Staying true to the serene essence of witnessing a droplet, the effect is applied to a luxuriously bouclé cashmere coat and a stunning shell jacket, both hand-embellished with a cascade of miniature crystals. A striking raincoat and tailored check blouson further elevate this concept, adorned with a dynamic mix of hotfix and hand-embroidered droplet crystals. Denim trousers and an Oxford shirt receive a playful update, featuring hotfix crystal drops that glimmer like fresh rain.
The collection takes centre stage against the garden of DROPHAUS—a prefabricated home designed by Williams—where it draws inspiration from the shade of a droplet. Each room is decorated with pieces of HOMEWORK furniture, designed to infuse a timeless, elegant feel with Japanese-style influences.
In the accessories department, Williams knows a thing or two about making leather carry-alls your secret weapon. Through the classics and new, the big reveal of this season’s collection was eccentric, nevertheless. With groundbreaking fabric innovations —such as the Midnight Flash bags that transform into an iridescent silver—and the introduction of Malletier Veau Volours bags, in luxurious tobacco- and burgundy-toned suede, featuring hydro-reactive covers that reveal the iconic Monogram when kissed by raindrops, the collection is an ode to timeless design with innovation.
Reimagined shapes in Classic Monogram Canvas include a effortlessly chic Nevereverfull and a Horizon bag featuring cargo pockets, a stylish Chris Slingback body bag, and the new Dandy Duffle, adorned with VVN corners, also available in luxurious Malletier Leather.
As styles emerge that are both essential and iconic, Louis Vuitton undeniably cements its status as a leader of trend-setting while paying homage to the rich tapestry of fashion history. This season, we are reminded that true style transcends mere aesthetics; it is about making a statement that endures—elegantly, effortlessly, and unapologetically.
