Moom Launch Glow Guard, Their First Skincare-Focused Supplement

Glow Guard

In a region where heat, humidity, and high UV exposure are part of everyday life, skincare has always been about more than just what you apply on the surface. Increasingly, the focus is shifting inward—toward routines that support skin health at a deeper, more preventative level.

Moom Health founders Mili and Maya Kale discuss Glow Guard, their new ingestible skincare supplement designed to support UV protection and overall skin health.

Moom Health has long been ahead of that curve. Known for its community-first approach and expert-backed, natural supplements, the brand is now entering the beauty space with Glow Guard, a daily drink designed to help skin better cope with environmental stressors like UV and pollution.

We caught up with founders Mili and Maya Kale to talk about the inspiration behind the launch, the growing demand for ingestible skincare, and what it really means to care for your skin from within.

Moom Health has always felt very community-first—at what point did you realise your audience was ready to move into ingestible skincare?

We didn’t see it as a sudden shift—it was something our community was already asking for. Over time, we noticed more conversations moving from “how do I fix this skin issue topically?” to “what’s happening internally that’s affecting my skin?” Living in Southeast Asia, where we’re exposed to high UV levels year-round, women were already thinking about prevention and long-term skin health. They weren’t just looking for quick fixes—they wanted something more foundational.

Glow Guard is your first skincare-focused supplement—why was this the right product to lead that category for Moom?

We wanted our first step into beauty to feel very Moom—rooted in prevention, not just aesthetics. Glow Guard sits at the intersection of wellness and skincare. It’s not about vanity, it’s about protecting your skin daily from the environment we live in—sun, pollution, stress.

For us, it felt like the most honest extension of what we’ve always done: creating natural, functional remedies for modern life in Asia.

There are many “beauty-from-within” products on the market right now—what did you feel was missing that only Glow Guard could deliver?

A lot of products in this space focus on glow as a surface-level outcome—brightening, whitening, or collagen boosting. What we felt was missing was protection. In Southeast Asia, the biggest daily aggressor isn’t just ageing—it’s constant UV exposure. But there aren’t many ingestible products that directly address that. Glow Guard was built around that gap: not just making your skin look better, but helping it defend itself better.

Why did you choose a powder drink format over capsules or gummies for this particular formula?

We don’t have any gummy products at Moom at the moment and I’m not sure if we ever will. Our focus and priority will always be on efficacy. A drink format allows for better absorption for certain ingredients and is a much more enjoyable experience than taking 5 pills of just one product (which is what the pill dose would have been for Glow Guard).

Polypodium Leucotomos isn’t a mainstream ingredient yet—what convinced you it was the right hero for this product?

We were really drawn to the science behind it. Polypodium Leucotomos has been studied for its ability to support the skin’s response to UV exposure, which directly aligned with the problem we wanted to solve. It’s not a trendy ingredient—and that’s actually why we liked it. It’s one of those cases where the research is ahead of the awareness. For us, it was about choosing what works, even if it requires more education.

How did you balance efficacy with the “100% natural” positioning, especially when working with clinically studied actives?

That balance has always been really important to us. We define “natural” not as unproven or traditional, but as ingredients that are derived from nature and supported by research. So it wasn’t about compromising on efficacy, but rather about being intentional with sourcing and formulation, making sure every ingredient has both a natural origin and a clear functional role.

Did either of you have a personal “aha” moment that directly influenced Glow Guard’s creation?

For me, it was very personal. I struggled with adult acne, and even after the breakouts calmed down, I was left dealing with post-acne marks and scarring. Living in Singapore, I realised how much the sun was working against that healing process. Even when I was diligent with sunscreen, the reality is, it’s not always practical to reapply perfectly throughout the day. And I could see how easily those marks would darken with daily exposure.

That was the turning point. It made me rethink skincare beyond just what I was putting on my skin, and start asking how I could support it internally—especially in an environment where sun exposure is constant. Glow Guard really came from that place of wanting something that could support your skin consistently, from the inside out!

You’re asking consumers to rethink skincare as something internal—what has been the biggest misconception you’ve had to overcome?

The biggest misconception is that ingestible skincare is a replacement for topical products. It’s not—it’s complementary. We want to reframe the conversation from “either/or” to “both.” Skincare works best when you’re supporting your skin from multiple angles.

How do you educate your community about the fact that this supports sunscreen, rather than replaces it?

We’re very clear and consistent about this: Glow Guard is not a substitute for SPF. We position it as an additional layer of support—something that works alongside sunscreen, not instead of it. Education-wise, we focus on explaining how UV damage works at a deeper level, and where topical protection has its limits.

Where do you see ingestible skincare going in Southeast Asia over the next few years—and how do you plan to stay ahead of that curve?

We think the category will shift from “beauty” to “skin health.” Consumers here are becoming more informed and more preventative—they’re looking for products that do more than just improve appearance. For us, staying ahead means continuing to listen closely to our community and building products that solve real, region-specific problems—especially those shaped by our environment and lifestyle in Southeast Asia.
