Dior Presents: A Closer Look at Dior Spring/Summer 2018

HIP TO BE SQUARE

This season, the maison dives deep into its archives for a collection inspired by its third creative director, Marc Bohan. With a career spanning three decades, the former designer’s risqué cuts are reinvigorated, running the gamut from Bar jackets to mod minidresses.

FORM AND FUNCTION

Did you know?

First worn by polar explorers, the parka features a split back—or fishtail—tied to the front with strings, to provide extra heat insulation in cold weather. Dior’s take? Lightweight 21st-century fabrics tailored into parachute parkas, paired with Inuit-style long fishnet boots.

A CUT ABOVE

A throwback to former Dior creative director Marc Bohan’s work, fur-trimmed coats are paired with long black boots that echo his 1966 collection, inspired by the Doctor Zhivago film.

CHECK, MATE

A recurring trend throughout Dior Spring/Summer ’18, checks are inspired by and taken from the maison’s archive—particularly, a 1965 Diorling coat by Bohan. Here, the

bold motif takes centre stage, as seen on the iconic Lady Dior handbags and Bar jackets.
