New World Order

“Today, fashion is not just about making clothes. it’s about asking questions, finding creative ways to build consciousness.”

DIOR

With Greta Thunberg’s powerful 2019 United Nations summit speech still freshly seared onto every showgoer’s minds, Dior’s sustainable approach for its Spring/Summer ’20 collection couldn’t have come at a more pertinent moment. Inspired by Christian Dior’s sister Catherine’s love for gardening, dresses, and A-line skirts were crafted from raffia and tie-dyed denims, sandals were stripped and fringed, while the maison’s now-iconic Book tote was updated into a gardening kit. Undeniably, the message of sustainability reverberated not only through its wares, but also its showspace. For the season, the famed Parisian Longchamp racecourse was transformed into an ethereal forest, with more than 100 plants replanted throughout the French capital post-show.
