Two worlds of glamour.
Between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen’s fierce battle on the track and George Russel’s second grand prix win, the event-packed race weekend in Austria had us all at the edge of our seats. The Mercedes driver struck his iconic intro pose, victorious P1, while McLaren’s Oscar Piastri secured second place and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz claimed the third spot on the podium.
Last week, we covered some of the best F1 X fashion collaborations of all time. Today, from Lewis Hamilton to Fernando Alonso, discover some of the Formula 1 drivers making their mark in the fashion industry as they front campaigns and ambassadorship to some of the biggest brands while merging the worlds of fashion and motorsports.
Meet the F1 drivers who are ambassadors to our favourite fashion brands :
1) Lewis Hamilton
Tommy Hilfiger
From releasing four collections in collaboration with the brand as a global ambassador to fronting campaigns, Lewis Hamilton has had a long-standing history with Tommy Hilfiger.
Rimowa
Jet-setting across the globe, Rimowa suitcases are Hamilton’s trustee travel companions. In 2023, Lewis starred in Rimowa’s “Never Still” campaign alongside K-pop star Rosé and footballer Kylian Mbappé. The campaign explores different points of view and perspectives of travelling through the lens.
Earlier this year, Hamilton visited Seoul to unveil Rimowa’s latest additions to its seasonal essential collection, which featured suitcases in Mint and Papaya shades.
Valentino
Dripped in a distinctive shade of Pink, Hamilton joined Maison Valentino’s former creative director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, to celebrate the famed ‘Valentino Pink PP Collection’. The F1 star fronted the campaign alongside Zendaya and Son Ye Jin and graced the front row at Valentino’s Fashion Week show in a black monochrome number that perfectly showed off his style.
2) Charles Leclerc
Ray-Ban
Aside from his partnership with the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team, Charles Leclerc was named a Ray-Ban brand ambassador. Leclerc and his teammate Carlos Sainz fronted the campaign for the Ferrari and Ray-Bans collaboration, sporting stylish frames adorned in Ferrari’s eminent colours and logo. The collection featured a variety of silhouettes, including customised pairs by the drivers.
APM Monaco
Monegasque jewellery brand APM Monaco is renowned for its chic selection of precious gems. Charles Leclerc was named an ambassador of the brand in 2022 and has since fronted campaigns and made appearances at its events. Most recently, Leclerc was joined by his brother Arthur to star in APM Monaco’s latest campaign, boasting a dazzling range of fine jewellery through this unique collaboration.
3) George Russell
Tommy Hilfiger
Tommy Hilfiger’s established relationship with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 team continues, with George Russell taking on the role of a brand ambassador in 2023.
PUMA
“PUMA is a brand that I’ve worn for many years, I use it for my fitness program, leisurewear and of course any time I’m in a Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 car“ says Russell, a Puma brand ambassador.
Puma’s journey in motorsports dates back many years, having designed apparel for F1 teams, including Mercedes, Ferrari and Redbull. A$AP Rocky was recently appointed creative director of the Formula 1 partnership with Puma, where he will pave the way for creating collections embodying the essence of fashion and motorsport.
4) Lando Norris
TUMI
An official partner of the McLaren F1 team, Lando Norris adds to the motorsport‘s roster of fashion ambassadorships with TUMI. In his travels through the year, you’ll spot him with his TUMI gear in tow, from suitcases to backpacks.
5) Fernando Alonso
BOSS
