… GET INTO CAPOEIRA?
Working out and exercising are good, but movement practices like capoeira are even more essential for our physical health, because it blends martial arts, dance, acrobatics, and strength training all into the practice. Sign up for classes at Movimento Simples de Capoeira Malaysia (MSCM) as well as Capoeira Camara Malaysia.
… HANG ON A BAR, REST IN A SQUATTING POSITION, AND CRAWL ON THE GROUND?
This is part of the movement philosophy I’ve adapted over the years: Instead of doing a particular activity for an hour or two daily, it would make more sense to get a good diet of movement throughout the day. So even if you don’t make it to the gym, you aren’t lacking in your daily movement nutrition.
… DRINK KOMBUCHA?
Kombucha is rich in probiotics and antioxidants, as well as helps to fight off bad bacteria. Google provides a range of kombucha recipes to make your own.
… WATCH OUR PLANET ON NETFLIX?
I love watching documentaries and this one is definitely in my top five of all time. The amount of detail captured in ultra-high definition makes every frame so breathtaking. I now appreciate Mother Earth so much more and it reminds me that I need to be more vigilant in doing my part to preserve it.
… LISTEN TO “ON BEING” PODCAST BY KRISTA TIPPETT?
Krista is a conversationalist like no other. She speaks from a place of wisdom and enables her guests to fully express themselves. In almost every interview, the conversations aren’t just thought-provoking, but utterly soul-invigorating.
… TUNE INTO YOUR SUBTLER SENSES TO BE PRESENT?
The present moment is, truly, all that exists but our minds tend to chauffer us back and forth between the past and the future. By checking in through your subtler senses, you are able to anchor yourself to the present moment. Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth will help with this practice.
… SIT IN SILENCE AND OBSERVE WHAT THE MIND IS DOING?
This is basically how you initiate the meditation process. By sitting in silence, you become still and in stillness, through observation without judgement, you will begin to see what your mind gets up to without any effort on your part. Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Wherever You Go, There You Are would be a very insightful read.
… CREATE SIMPLE RITUALS TO KEEP YOU GROUNDED?
From the moment I get up each morning, I make my bed and say “thank you” for the fact that I am alive and I get to experience another day. Then I meditate, read some spiritual teachings, maybe do some journaling, and have a simple breakfast. This is just what I’ve found that helps me stay connected to the deepest parts of my soul.
