Heritage meets haute beauty in Louis Vuitton’s first cosmetics line, where Dame Pat McGrath transforms the Maison’s design codes into a new beauty universe.
It was only a matter of time before Louis Vuitton, long synonymous with the art of travel and modern luxury, expanded beyond its celebrated fragrance universe into the world of make-up. Yet, with so many luxury houses now entering the beauty arena, the announcement of La Beauté Louis Vuitton inevitably comes with a degree of curiosity and wonder. The Maison, however, has made its intentions crystal clear by appointing none other than Dame Pat McGrath as creative director of cosmetics. With her decades of influence shaping runway, editorial, and cultural beauty codes, this debut signals ambition, artistry, and a genuine commitment to creating something extraordinary.
The collection’s arrival marks a new chapter in Louis Vuitton’s 171-year legacy. Drawing inspiration from the brand’s history of crafting exquisite vanity cases and objets de beauté for society’s elite, McGrath has reimagined these traditions for the modern era. The debut line is anchored by three core categories—lipsticks, balms, and eyeshadow palettes—each designed as a keepsake object, as desirable to hold as to wear. Industrial designer Konstantin Grcic lends a sleek architectural touch to the packaging, with refillable designs in aluminium and brass that feel as enduring as they look.
LV Rouge
The lipstick wardrobe is an audacious statement in itself: 55 shades, a symbolic nod to the Roman numerals for “LV.” Ranging from luminous satin to plush matte finishes, each colour has been meticulously chosen by McGrath to be both universally flattering and creatively distinctive. Hero shades include Monogram Rouge, a burnished red that nods to the House’s iconic canvas; Rose Odyssée, a sienna rose celebrating individuality; and Rouge Louis, a bold scarlet steeped in timeless elegance. Each formula pairs high-impact colour with skincare benefit —think shea butter, hyaluronic acid, and upcycled floral waxes — for comfort that lasts as long as the colour.
The LV Rouge retails for RM740 and the refillable lipstick is RM320.
LV Baume
For a softer touch, the Baume collection offers 10 sheer, glow-enhancing tints. Lightweight and buildable, they deliver hydration for up to 48 hours and a whisper of colour, with standout shades like Monogram Touch, Tender Bliss, and Rose Essentiel. The attention to detail even extends to scent: master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud has infused the lipsticks and balms with bespoke fragrances inspired by Louis Vuitton’s ateliers in Grasse.
The LV Baume retails for RM740 and the refillable lipstick is RM320.
LV Ombres
The LV Ombres eyeshadow palettes—eight in total—present harmonies of four shades each, balancing wearable neutrals with a single “disruptor” shade for creative dimension. Textures range from ultra-matte to glittering metallic, all blending effortlessly thanks to the brand’s pigment innovations and skin-comforting ingredients like plant-derived squalane and camelina flower oil. Highlights include Monogram Rouge, echoing the signature lipstick shade; Beige Memento, a warm golden nod to patina leather; and Nude Mirage, a versatile rose-tinted neutral.
The LV Ombres eyeshadow palette retails for RM1150.
In true Louis Vuitton style, the beauty line extends beyond the products themselves. From limited-edition lipstick pouches to a modern Vanity Trunk inspired by archival designs, the Maison reinforces its position at the intersection of heritage, craftsmanship, and modern desire.
With McGrath’s singular vision, Grcic’s design precision, and Louis Vuitton’s storied savoir-faire, La Beauté Louis Vuitton feels less like an obligatory beauty launch and more like a deliberate, meticulously crafted evolution of the brand’s identity.
You can find the La Beauté Louis Vuitton online on the Louis Vuitton website and at the Louis Vuitton Kuala Lumpur store at The Exchange TRX.
