Your Essential Culture Guide For Chinese New Year

What to do in between open houses and delicious Chinese New Year feasts.

Watch a heartwarming short film

Shot entirely on iPhone Xs, “The Bucket” follows the story of a young man who receives a bucket as a gift, after visiting his mother in the countryside. The subject of family traditions, the emotional bond between a mother and her children and the expression of love is brought to life through film director Jia Zhangke’s keen eye.

Revisit a familiar legend through an exhibition

10,000 Mosquito Hearts, a visual art exhibition by Penang-based artist Foo May Lyn is inspired by the popular Malay legend of Puteri Gunung Ledang. As her first solo show in Kuala Lumpur, the exhibition features over 140 intricate drawings, textiles and soft sculpture, that retells the tale as old as time. Until February 17 at OUR ArtProjects @ The Zhongshan Building.

Celebrate familiarity and childhood memories through quirky angpow designs
