ICYMI: Bella Hadid was in Kuala Lumpur last Monday evening, and needless to say – the internet broke. Spending just several hours in Malaysia’s bustling city, BAZAAR got up close and personal with Tag Heuer’s supermodel ambassadress, sharing her thoughts on time, her (unexpected) hobbies, and how not to crack under pressure.
HB: If you could go back in time and give one advice to a teenage Bella, what would it be?
BH: Not to be afraid of yourself. I know it sounds cliché, but I thought about it the other day, and I wish I could have been comfortable with all the things that I loved – like knitting. If I had stuck with it since then, I would’ve been so much better at it now. But everything happens for a reason!
HB: What’s your favourite time of the day, and why?
BH: For the weekends, it’d probably be 11:30 AM, in bed watching TV. I think that’s such a special time to just wake up and have nothing to do. I was such a night owl when I was younger, and now I’m in bed by 9:30 PM!
HB: How do you not crack under pressure?
BH: My goal is to stay strong, and make sure that my mind, body, and spirit, are aligned to that motto. Last year, I was working a lot, so this year I try to space it out and give myself a little bit more time.
HB: Three ways to keep calm, and carry on?
BH: #1, stay focused. If you give 100% on something, it would be so much easier to stay on your own path and get through things. #2, keep close to people that center you – my brother, my sister, my best friends. And #3, my crystals! I collect crystals to keep me calm, and for my birthday, my agency got me this big crystal that now sits in my living room. It keeps me centered.
HB: What do you do five minutes before you leave the house?
BH: I usually try to find my lip gloss. My keys are probably lost somewhere, so I try to find those, as well.
HB: If you were given two extra hours every day, how would you spend it?
BH: Sleep! Although I’d also say, to try and use it more wisely.
HB: Ultimate tag-team partner?
BH: I always say I have five best friends in my life – my mum, my sister, my best friends Fanny and Allison, and of course, Gigi.
HB: What would you say is most essential about time?
BH: How you spend it. It’s hard to explain time – we’re all human beings, so while time is considered a blessing, it is also your life.
