After a month of shows, the autumn/winter 2019 catwalk season has drawn to a close – and with it comes a whole host of new trends to have on your radar. While bright and sunny yellows seem to be the colour of the new season, feathers are certainly the fancy touch you'll be adding to your wardrobe. Enormous bags were everywhere, shoulders got the puffy treatment and the bucket hat had a very luxurious makeover.

6 Ankle-skimming hems

Skirts and dresses appear to have got a little longer for the new season with plenty of designers opting for ankle-skimming hemlines, replacing mid-length, mini or maxi styles. The trend was seen in elegant eveningwear at Rejina Pyo and Brandon Maxwell, in pretty skirt form at Carolina Herrera and Giambattista Valli – and was given a cool spin on a knitted jumper dress at Alexander McQueen.
