Icons only.
It’s no figure that the adidas Originals Superstar has stood the test of time to become a cultural icon. Initially launched in 1969 as a basketball shoe, the Superstar has effortlessly evolved into a streetwear staple, gracing the feet of every trendsetter. With its signature shell toe and sleek silhouette, the Superstar continues to break barriers in sneaker history.
Following the buzz surrounding the brand’s campaign titled “Superstar: The Original”, the brand has recruited a roster of pioneers like JENNIE, Samuel L. Jackson, Missy Elliot, Anthony Edwards and many more.
To celebrate the legacy of the Superstar, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur’s Centre Court was transformed into a magnificent pop-up for every sneaker aficionado from 27 August to 1 September. Unlike any regular pop-up, the space was fueled with immersive activities, such as the Superstar Soundbooth, where visitors could tune in to audio experiences featuring tracks from the campaign artist, along with games like a basketball shootout and Dance Dance Revolution. Visitors could also shop and browse through iconic Superstar shoes and the stylish Firebird Tracksuit, featuring limited-edition customisation kits that allowed guests to personalise their new kicks or Firebird pieces on the spot.

Joe Flizzow enters a new era with adidas Originals
If you thought the excitement ended there, you were wrong. The celebration was marked by the monumental announcement of the inspiring partnership between adidas Originals and hip-hop icon Joe Flizzow, marking a new and influential chapter for both the brand and Malaysian street culture.
“Superstar is about being true to yourself, about daring to stand out and inspire others,” says Joe Flizzow in a statement. “I’m proud to represent Malaysia in this global movement and to share this platform with the next wave of local talent.”
Shining a spotlight on our local luminaries, stars like Ismail Izzani, DOLLA, Lil J, Julia Duclos, Elva Suyan, and Aziz Harun, also brought the Superstar ethos to life at the pop-up.
All in all, the legendary Superstar has proven, time and again, to be a testament to the creative spirit of the late ’90s. With the Superstar returning in two classic colourways, enhanced with padding in the tongue and collar, and the timeless Firebird Tracksuit remaining in the cultural spotlight since ’67, these iconic pieces are proof that an artistic legacy lives on.
