Big thanks to Miss Sabrina Carpenter.
As the dreariness that looms over winter in some countries starts to ebb away, revealing the first signs of spring, so does a similar shift occur in the colour palettes of fashion. After spending the past few months obsessing over heavy tones like rich reds, greys and browns, a change toward a more light and airy palette is anticipated. From Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, which saw a flurry of pastels and ethereal elegance, to a wave of baby blues enveloping the red carpets this year—particularly the Grammys, this gentle hue represents the world’s yearning for tranquillity and optimism.
From the most highly-anticipated night in music, we saw stars like Sabrina Carpenter in her custom JW Anderson gown, Benson Boone’s sequined jumpsuit and Charli XCX’s vintage Christian Dior silhouette proving the influence of baby blue. And looking at these ensembles, we can’t find a reason not to make space in our wardrobes for such a fun and captivating shade. For some inspiration on how to style the colour, we’ve prepared study materials below.
Here are some more ways the baby blue hue has been styled this season:
Jennie
From Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, Blackpink’s Jennie Kim sports a slouchy striped set for her appearance at the French television show Quotidien. The ensemble is paired with black tights and classic black stilettos for an effortless and laid-back look.
Selena Gomez
For the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards, singer and actress Selena Gomez dons a custom Prada crystal blue satin off-shoulder column gown with apron skirt detailing, accompanied with matching satin pumps.
Doechii
Doechii portrays consistency in her preppy-inspired style by wearing a custom Casablanca set—at the pre-Grammy show—that pairs the light blue jacket, shirt and tie with an emerald green midi skirt. Hints of navy blue and white also complement the look.
Sabrina Carpenter
For her performance at the NPR Tiny Desk, Sabrina Carpenter slips into a pleated babydoll dress paired with two matching lace garters and pumps. The girlish loose-fitting silhouette is one of the few of the singer’s signature styles—among bedazzled corsets and bodysuits.
Mikey Madison
While in New York City, actress Mikey Madison steps out in a matching set from Patou, which combines a belted wool shift dress with a cropped jacket, both crafted from baby blue brocade. A long black double-breasted coat finishes the look, along with a black clutch, sheer black tights and Ferragamo T-Bar pumps.
