There was a sense of ease upon entering the gallery for Diane Von Furstenberg's Spring/Summer '18 presentation—no designated seats, no front rows, just an elevated runway. Despite the rather casual setting, the collection spoke volumes as models walked down the runway in dizzying nostalgic prints and vibrant colours—key essences of the brand's DNA.
Jonathan Saunders had chosen Studio 54 golden girl Jane Forth, an It Girl figure from Andy Warhol's Factory from the early 1970s. Imbued with a youthful spirit, eccentricity moulded together with sensual, effortless glamour for this collection. From flamboyant disco-ready dresses, belted pantsuits, and fur-collared leather coats, the impeccable attention to detail was truly captivating—see: playful fringes, vibrant colours, graphic stripes— a visual feast for the eyes.
As Saunders breathed new life into the brand with new innovative and fresh ideas, the fashion realm will be paying close attention and be looking forward to what he will deliver for his upcoming collections. Bravo, Saunders!
