Local brand Dressing Paula collaborates with veteran fashion designer to present a floral-inspired festive collection.

Dressing Paula x Khoon Hooi presents a festive collection entitled “Tropical Moon”
When Dressing Paula was founded in 2010, it carved out a space in the local fashion scene by offering modern, affordable essentials for the working Malaysian woman. In the last 15 years, it has expanded far beyond its original scope, offering a wider selection of garments beyond work attire, such as festive wear and activewear. It is also available at more than 15 locations nationwide, including several flagships in Mid Valley Megamall, Bangsar Village II and more.
Over the years, Dressing Paula has upheld its reputation as a “proudly Malaysian” brand by collaborating with local artists and organisations, such as the Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO) and artist Miriam Omar.
Its latest collaboration is “Tropical Moon”, a limited edition festive collection created with couturier Khoon Hooi. A fashion visionary, Khoon Hooi has been putting Malaysia on the map with his elegant designs. His clientele spans the globe and encompasses women with the most sophisticated and discerning eye, from members of high society to Hollywood celebrities.
Below, BAZAAR speaks with Kay Chow, founder and managing director of Dressing Paula about this exciting new collaboration.

The collection is a combination of Khoon Hooi’s architectural silhouettes and refined couture craftsmanship with Dressing Paula’s youthful vision. “We wanted to reinterpret the Lunar New Year aesthetic through a contemporary Malaysian lens—something rooted in tradition yet free-spirited and light. “The Tropical Moon woman celebrates both her heritage and her individuality. She is elegant yet unafraid of colour, confident yet at ease,” says Chow.
She continues: “The collection is all about tropical flowers. Every item is named after one.” These include The Orchid, the key piece with a sculptural silhouette, Ylang, Bougainvillea, Canna, Hibiscus, Anthurium, Allamanda, Paradise, Plumeria, and Ixora.
“Collaborating with Khoon Hooi allowed us to explore the beauty of contrasts: structure and softness, opulence and ease, moonlight and sun. And it was such a smooth sailing collaboration. We had perfect synergy. I’ve always said that Dressing Paula and Khoon Hooi share the same value and love for craftsmanship, so working with him was such a joy!” she says.
