It was a star-studded affair
The tweeds are out in Paris — ever the first optimistic sign of fall, despite it being months away. Staying within the guardrails of Chanel’s femininity and androgynous silhouettes, the Chanel Fall Winter 2024/25 Ready-to-Wear show kicked off with a star-studded affair.
Weaving together the 1920s and 70s, the new collection — imagined by Virginie Viard — draws inspiration from Gabrielle Chanel’s own wardrobe. Blending femininity and masculinity from the subtle elegance of winter sojourns by the sea, the Fall Winter 2024/25 collection is to die for.
Set in a cinematic, moody yet serene sunset atmosphere, the collection saw the likes of boxy tweed suits, chunky sweaters and knits and even long, flowy dresses. Taking inspiration from the Deauville sky, the colour palette of the collection showcases vibrant or pastel shades ranging from pink, and mauve to orange and pale blue. But, like so many other collections, this season also saw variations of black, white and grey.
“Deauville is where everything started for the House. 1912, the creation of her hat shop and then very quickly the first clothes with their visionary, radical style. It’s where it all began for Gabrielle Chanel. This story is very close to my heart,” confides Virginie Viard.
As distinctive as Chanel is with its camellias and tweed, it’s a house that offers something for all women to buy into. So, it’s no surprise that their recent collection features elevated, sophisticated and stunning sartorial pieces every fashion darling should have in their wardrobe.
