It’s the end of an era. Jeremy Scott will leave his role as creative director of the Italian luxury house Moschino after a decade of sprinkling his dose of drama and imagination. For a touching throwback, we have gathered all of the best runway and red carpet moments by the one and only, Jeremy Scott.
When we think of Moschino, three words come to mind: Whimsical, playful and campy.
Over the last decade, Jeremy Scott has proven that in order to love and embrace fashion, you will need to balance the craziness of it all with a dose of fun. Well, he did just that at the Italian luxury label Moschino and with a side of theatrical drama too. His presentations and runway shows were guaranteed to put a smile on everyone’s face. Not forgetting his love for exaggerated and bold accessories – we’re talking about the legendary Barbie mirror phone case, oversized chunky logo earrings, teddy bear-infused handbags, Windex-inspired phone case and beyond.
Sadly, all good things must come to an end. On 20 March 2023, Jeremy Scott announced on his Instagram that he would be stepping down from his role as the creative director.
Taken from the statement, “After 10 years, I am announcing today that I will be leaving Moschino. I have had a blast creating designs that will live on forever. I am grateful for all the love and support I have received over this past decade. As I close this chapter, I am filled with excitement and anticipation and can’t wait to share with you all what I have in store for you next.”
Famed for his fiery spirit and pop culture-infused collections, Scott has successfully put the fashion house on the map for its whimsical-meets-eccentric designs. His runway shows were always guaranteed to be a show-stopping experience.
We can assure you that the biggest names in Hollywood can agree with us too. Since he joined the house in 2013, you will find A-listers from Katy Perry and Lizzo to Angela Bassett donning a Moschino garment.
Who could forget his iconic Fall/Winter 2014 McDonald’s-inspired capsule collection in Milan? Or, the time he ignited our childhood memories by sending Barbie-inspired ensembles in Spring/Summer 2015? Of course, we could not leave out his most memorable red carpet moments. From Katy Perry’s show-stopping chandelier dress and Zendaya’s magnificent butterfly dress to Madelaine Petsch’s (very on-theme) canary-gold dress worn for the MET Gala, the list is endless.
There’s no denying that his presence at Moschino will be dearly missed. And as we await more news on where the renowned designer will be heading next. We have gathered Jeremy Scott’s best celebrity and viral runway moments at Moschino to honour his tenure as creative director.
