Bag of the Month: The Return of the Balenciaga Le City

Le City is back, stronger than ever.

Fashion darlings, it’s time to re-introduce Le City back into your weekly rotation.

First launched in 2001, the Le City has evolved as one of the most iconic and sought-after accessories of its time. To celebrate the return, Balenciaga has unveiled a campaign of portraits shot by famed fashion photographer Mario Sorrenti.

The campaign includes some of the biggest names in entertainment and fashion with the likes of Kate Moss, Mona Tougaard, Yang Chaoyue, and Juyeon, posing with the newly-reintroduced bag. Impactful yet sophisticated, the iconic stars are seen posing against a grey background with the Le City in hand. 

What makes the Le City bag so unique?

The iconic bag features a maximalist yet practical approach for any day-to-night affair. Assembled by hand, the 25-panel construction replicate vintage versions, using the same dimensions of exterior and interior layers. The defining features of the bag include reinforced corners with the signature small metal buckles, thimble-like studs, spacious interior and exterior pockets.

Balenciaga has also introduced a new line, Le Cagole, inspired by the aesthetic of Le City. This new line takes inspiration from the bag’s leather-strung zipper pulls and rivets to create a unique and stylish look.

The iconic bag is now available in medium and small sizes, with adjustable shoulder and crossbody straps, respectively. The bag is introduced in a range of colours destined for every personality, including black, yellow, green, light purple, metallic steel grey, metallic silver, white, blue, and beige, making it a perfect accessory for any outfit.
