2024 Fashion Wrapped.
2024 was a year of experimentation and fun with self-expression. To look back on, we have compiled six trends that defined 2024 fashion. Some were introduced by significant events in pop culture, and others were simply popularised by influential names in fashion. Either way, they have made a lasting impression, and surely, one of the following can be found in our wardrobes.
A review of the best fashion trends in 2024:
Pop of red
A colour of romance and confidence, it was no surprise that the cherry red hue dominated street style during the beginning of the year. Whether worn as a monochrome look or one statement piece against a neutral-coloured ensemble, the trend offered many ways of styling that exuded playfulness and elegance. A true cherry on top.
Cowboy aesthetic
With Beyonce releasing her eighth studio album Cowboy Carter; fashion It-girl Bella Hadid making appearances at rodeos; Post Malone and Lana Del Rey debuting their country albums respectively; and Bad Bunny embarking on his Western-themed concert tour — many events were at the helm of the cowboy trend. Even Pharrell Williams put his own spin on the aesthetic for Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2024 collection, which saw a series of cowboy-inspired silhouettes and workwear details. Other elements to look out for are denim-on-denim looks, cowboy boots and hats.
Capri pants
Look for the most controversial fashion trend of the year, and you might find ‘capri pants’ to be a strong competitor at the top of the list. This style of tapered cropped pants was all over Instagram and TikTok after making its comeback at the Copenhagen Fashion Week’s Spring/Summer 2025 runway shows. Danish brands like A. Roege Hove, Rotate and OpéraSport all showcased their take on the pedal-pusher trend — from playing it safe by pairing it with a simple black vest to adding a feminine flair with a cropped pink top with puffy sleeves.
Office siren
Small metal frames, fitted tailoring, and the classic stiletto assemble to epitomise the ‘office siren’ look. The trend was originally introduced over social media when users started showcasing their own interpretation of office wear with a touch of edge. Soon after, this style began to reach beyond the workplace and into the streetwear scene. The uptake in this trend later began to spotlight brands like Gucci (under the reign of Tom Ford), I.AM.GIA, Sandy Liang, The Row and Shushu/Tong.
Boho-chic
One of the most talked-about runway shows of the year was Chemena Kamali’s debut for Chloé, which revived boho-chic. In the Fall 2024 collection, the newly-appointed creative director did not hold back on floaty blouses, frills and neutral colours, which reignited our love for the romantic and dreamy aesthetic. The collection was quickly adopted by celebrities on the red carpet and in movie premieres. You’ll find stars like Sienna Miller, Greta Gerwig, and Zoe Saldana donning Chloé at the Met Gala, along with English singer Suki Waterhouse opening at The Eras Tour; and Daisy Edgar Jones during her promo tour of the Twisters movie.
Bag charms
As the year comes to a close, quiet luxury is retreating back into reticence and ‘loud luxury’ is rediscovering its voice. In its summer collection, Prada’s sister brand, Miu Miu, introduced the trend of adorning your handbag with funky keychains and eccentric trinkets. Otherwise known as ‘Birkin-ifying’, in reference to the way Jane Birkin accessorised her namesake Hermès bag with her keys or watches, the bag charm trend proves a fun way to personalise our belongings and add a jingle to each step.
