RIMOWA Announces Second Edition of the RIMOWA Design Prize

RIMOWA is set to return with its second edition of the RIMOWA Design Prize.

The RIMOWA Design Prize is a celebration of Germany’s rich design heritage and aims to inspire the next generation of creators.

This annual student competition is founded on values of innovation, inclusivity, and global change, providing young talents with an inclusive and nurturing environment to convert their creative potential into tangible projects. The competition offers a unique opportunity for students to present their work to a diverse jury of industry heavyweights, who reflect RIMOWA’s unique voice and values.

What you need to know about the Rimowa Design Prize 2024:

This year’s prize, set to take place between December 2023 and May 2024, will focus on the topic of mobility, with students encouraged to interpret the theme freely, considering mobility’s global impact and RIMOWA’s values of resilience, excellence, and quality. The finalists will be announced during Berlin Design Week, with a ceremony celebrating their achievements.

“In an era where mobility carries unprecedented importance, we’re proud to continue our mission with the RIMOWA Design Prize. This theme has indeed paved the way for ambitious projects by young talents. This year, we want to sustain this momentum, as we reaffirm our commitment to German design excellence with a second edition steered by our jury of true vanguards in the world of design.”, says RIMOWA CEO, Hugues Bonnet-Masimbert.

But that’s not all. The RIMOWA Design Prize provides participants with networking opportunities, a professional workspace, and infrastructure support to turn their vision into reality. Additionally, the competition includes a mentorship program led by a prominent jury member for students who make it to the first round.

The RIMOWA Design Prize will celebrate seven finalists with a series of monetary awards. The winner, selected by the esteemed jury, will be awarded €20,000. The runner-up will receive a €10,000 prize, while those in third through seventh place will each receive a prize of €5,000.
