SPARK JOY

Gucci ‘Towards the Sun’ ’20 collection

Gucci creative director, Alessandro Michele gives us a reason to smile with a cheerful capsule collection that radiates the spirit of freedom, joy and optimism. Part of the Pre-fall ’20 collection, aptly entitled ‘Towards the Sun’, it features a playful curation of handbags, ready-to-wear, accessories and footwear for both men and women that is sure to brighten up the gloomiest of days. And let’s be honest—we all could use a bit of cheering up amid this ongoing pandemic right?

For the ‘Towards the Sun’ collection, Michele reimagines the house icons—GG Marmont 2.0, Gucci Zumi and Gucci 1955 Horsebit lines—in delectable pastel shades that conveys “a spirit of easy, relaxed playfulness.” What’s more, each of the pieces features the instantly recognizable Gucci hardware and decorations that we all know and love.

Moreover, the collection also sees the addition of a range of new and irresistible bucket bags. The distinctive construction of this piece features a semi-rigid circular base and a leather top with a drawstring closure, and the style is enriched by gold metal Horsebit detail.

Another major highlight from the ‘Towards the Sun’ collection is the revival of the Baiadera stripe motif from the Gucci archives. Featuring bold colours in red, yellow, green and blue; adding a dose irreverent streetwear attitude and unisex appeal to bags, footwears and accessories— think Bob Marley meets Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

If you are an avid sartorial thrill seeker, this special collection also features a range of beautiful ready-to-wear pieces. From breezy kaftans, Caribbean-aqua-coloured dresses to fabulous knitwear that is energetic, uplifting and chic.
