2018 has, without a doubt, been the year of Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex. The former actress has had a lot of change to contend with in just 12 months and, with this, has had to dress accordingly – she became a member of the British royal family and had to transform her Hollywood wardrobe into something more fitting, she had to discover who she was as a royal bride (while a reported 1.9 billion people around the world watched) and then, later in the year, was tasked with tackling maternity wear for the first time.

While mastering all this, Meghan has championed relatively unknown designers (particularly supporting local brands during her two-week royal tour Down Under) and has found her niche in the luxury world, choosing fashion houses that she has since become synonymous with like Givenchy, Stella McCartney and Aquazzura, but has also nodded to British designers already loved by the royals, including Emilia Wickstead and Burberry.

Her style always was, and remains, polished and sophisticated, but she gives her look an undone and modern edge that is new for a British royal, whether that is wearing of-the-moment designers like Brock Collection, Brandon Maxwell and Gabriella Hearst, choosing sharp tailored suits or teaming an otherwise smart ensemble with a messy bun. As well as this, she promotes sustainability, has worn her fair share of affordable labels and has started many a trend with her love of dainty jewellery and bateau necklines.
