What is the Met Gala?
It is essentially a fundraising benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, where it will celebrate the Costume Institute’s newest exhibition, this year, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
When is the 2025 Met Gala?
Like clockwork, the Met Gala will take place on the first Monday in May—this year, the biggest fashion event of the year will take place on 5 May.
Where will the 2025 Met Gala be held?
Following tradition, the event will be held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, where the Costume Institute’s annual exhibition will run from 10 May – 26 October 2025.

As mentioned, this year’s Costume Institute’s spring 2025 exhibition is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The exhibition will highlight a cultural and historical spectacle of Black style over 300 years through dandyism. Organised into 12 sections, such as Champion, Respectability, Heritage, Beauty, and Cosmopolitanism, it will showcase garments and accessories, paintings, photographs, and decorative arts.
So, it’s no surprise that this year’s dress code for the Met Gala will be “Tailored for You”—putting emphasis on menswear, tailored suits and sharp, clean lines.

Choosing A-listers from different backgrounds, this year’s co-chairs include Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, rapper A$AP Rocky, Musician Pharrell Williams and actor Colman Domingo. NBA legend LeBron James will also be serving as an honorary chair.
