BAZAAR Women of The Year 2026: Meet DOLLA

Honouring the past, amplifying the future—BAZAAR Women of the Year 2026 celebrates the women whose music moves more than just a room. For Volume 1, we turn our spotlight to the new generation—the bold, the boundary-breaking and the ones writing the next verse. Meet DOLLA.

The girl group DOLLA—Tabby, Sabronzo and Angel—was created with one vision: to take over the world. The road to the top, however, wasn’t easy. Forging a new path in the world was bound to face scepticism.  But DOLLA was never deterred. Slowly, deliberately, and on their own terms, they made the world a believer. “One thing about DOLLA is that we share the same goal, and that goal drives us to do whatever it is that might be a little uncomfortable. We just strive to achieve what needs to be done,” said Tabby Lam. And today, no one questions their power anymore.

Three young women—each walking their own road, living their own story, dreaming their own dream—had no reason ever to find themselves in the same room. Until Instagram changed everything. Separately, scattered across their own corners of the world, each was scouted on Instagram to be shortlisted for a girl band. What followed was a trial by fire: an audition tape charged with ambition. To survive it, they had to bear everything—singing, rapping and dancing. And the competition was fierce, with 40-70 girls competing all at the same time. When the shortlist was finally drawn, four names stood apart—and for a time, four became the group’s most defining number. They became DOLLA.

But in 2024, DOLLA announced the departure of Syasya. It was a moment that could have unravelled everything. Instead, it revealed something far more enduring—that the bond holding DOLLA together was never about a count. Three, it turns out, can hold the world just as firmly. Perhaps even more so. And while the world is only just beginning to learn their names, make no mistake—these women have already proven the most essential truth of their journey: that drawbacks are not a deterrent. It is, in fact, the price of greatness. And they have never once stopped paying it.

Was there chemistry right off the bat? I asked. “We’re all introverts, so it took some time. We had to spend 24 hours a day together, so we got to know each other. We went through hardships together, the easy stuff together and the fun bits. So I think just all of that kind of bonded us. We’re like sisters,” Tabby explained. Their bond was read like a coming-of-age story, showing how girlhood transcends competition into something far more tender.

With ages ranging from 25 to 31, DOLLA members were born for—and into—this. Like so many girl groups before them, they’re singing, dancing and touring. “It’s still very fresh. Until today, we’re still trying to build the girl group,” Angel said. Tabby added: “We’ve been working hard to build a proper system that can consistently keep putting up good music and good quality content. We’re still finding our feet as we go.” DOLLA’s music is a confident collision of worlds. Their performances weave together vocal, dance, and rap elements, empowering, danceable energy—delivering the kind of high-octane precision that commands a stage. Their lyrics are rooted in girl power, and their sonic identity mirrors their name itself—one side soft and feminine, the other unapologetically bold. But what makes DOLLA truly distinct is their refusal to erase where they come from. They sing in Malay, and have embraced that proudly, even on international stages—a quiet but powerful declaration that their culture is not a limitation, but a signature. Each member is fully themselves, bringing a unique kind of energy that just works when it all comes together.

From rooms of 80 to stages that hold thousands, DOLLA’s ascent has been nothing short of remarkable—and yet, for them, it’s a drive to do more. The horizon, it seems, is always one ambition further away. “One of the things that keeps us going is treasuring the small steps that we have achieved to get to wherever we are today,” Tabby said. “We don’t get demotivated by little mishaps here and there. Our little achievements motivate us to do even more and give back.” But the climb, however dazzling, is rarely without its darker stretches. For every high, there have been lows—moments where the weight of it all quietly settled in. And it is in those moments that the three of them have always found their way back to each other. Not as performers, not as bandmates, but as girls who simply understand. “We’re all human. I think it’s important to come together, regroup and recenter. And, just creating a more motivational environment so that everyone wants to strive for better,” she disclosed. Sabronzo chimed in, “We try to keep as positive as possible.” They are, in the truest sense, each other’s anchor. And it is that tenderness, as much as any talent, that keeps propelling them forward.

“We enjoy performing for people who enjoy our music and people who actually look at our music and feel inspired,” said Angel. “That’s why we do what we do,” Sabronzo tacked on. Before we parted ways, I asked where they see themselves a year from now. Laughter fills the room before any answer does—and it’s Sabronzo who breaks the silence first, grinning: “Still breaking backs.” But beneath the levity lies something utterly sincere. A year from now, DOLLA sees exactly what they’ve always seen—themselves, together, creating music, commanding stages and etching their name a little deeper into the world’s memory.
