Tucked away in the vibrant heart of Taman Paramount, Bar TERUMI—lovingly dubbed “The Tender Bar”—has embarked on an ambitious new chapter. The neighbourhood gem has just launched “The HeArt of TeRu.Mi,” a revolutionary menu concept that transforms the traditional cocktail experience into something far more profound: a journey of elemental discovery and personal connection.
What began as a simple trifold menu has evolved into a comprehensive drinking philosophy. Bar TERUMI’s transformation mirrors its own growth story—from a cosy local watering hole to a destination that challenges conventional notions of what a neighbourhood bar can be.
The bar’s name itself tells this story of evolution. Drawing from the Kanji characters 辉 (Teru, meaning brightness) and 美 (Mi, meaning beauty), TERUMI has always been about illuminating life’s precious moments. Now, with their latest menu launch, they’ve taken this philosophy to new depths.

At the heart of The HeArt of TeRu.Mi menu lies the ancient wisdom of Chinese elemental theory—wood, fire, earth, metal, and water—but reimagined through the lens of contemporary mixology. Rather than rigid categories, these elements serve as intuitive starting points, each cocktail embodying not just flavours and ingredients, but emotions and intentions.
“The idea was never to create a menu for trend’s sake,” explains the founder, Shirmy Chan. “It was about crafting a drinking experience that feels like a conversation—sometimes quiet, sometimes surprising, but always meaningful.”
The HeArt of TeRu.Mi is structured around five thoughtfully curated sections, each designed to offer a different pathway through the drinking experience. The first is that all of their signature drinks are crafted based on one of the five elements. On top of that, drinks are also concocted with three iconic templates—martini, daiquiri, whiskey sour—while still upholding TERUMI’s splash of personality. There is even a rotating spotlight on the bartender’s must-drink crafts where seasonal ingredients and experimental flavours merge. Rounding it up as hearty menus is their extensive and updated spirit list, as well as small plates of food.
