“Heaven on earth. That’s where I want to be. I’d like to visit some orang utan friends at Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, walk along the Kuching river and have Sarawak laksa at James Brooke Cafe, cross the pedestrian bridge to Fort Margherita, do my pilgrimage to the Silk-Cotton Tree on Merdeka Square before a fix of strong, freshly ground coffee at Black Bean on Ewe Hai Street. Might venture a couple of doors on to have a pint or two on Carpenter Street, or even some Tuak. Nothing can stop me then, except — to chase the sunset! Will have my fix of Kenyah meals and delectable Bario rice from Lepau Restaurant, before heading to Damai Beach for the colourful theatrics in the sky. I’d stay at Cove 55, just on the other side of the beautiful Mount Sentubong, and be ready for the jungles of Bako National Park in the morning. My heaven on earth is Kuching, Sarawak.”
