Singapore Ushers in the Year of the Tiger with Roaring Lunar Festivities

Singapore invites you to participate in current Chinese New Year festivities with many auspicious displays and sensory delights to ring in the Year of the Tiger.

This Lunar New Year, celebrations that incorporate cross border travel between Malaysia and Singapore have been made easier by the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) scheme.  The Singapore Tourism Board has planned ahead and designed several exciting events happening across the island in hopes to revive tourism in the majestic city-state this Chinese New Year.  Here are some interesting festive-themed events happening there:

 

Tiger-themed Chinese New Year Light-Up at Chinatown

Upon arriving in Chinatown, you will be dazzled by a gigantic display featuring a family of tigers standing proud at the intersection of Upper Cross Street and New Bridge Road.  A beautiful Zodiac themed light-up calendar are also one of the many displays that will be sure to catch your attention, along with tiger-themed decorations and symbols of wealth such as golden ingots and pineapples.  Representing perseverance and longevity are the flowing waters and koi fishes finishing off the stretch of embellishments along New Bridge Road.  Join the “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon- theme at Chinatown Chinese New Year Walking Tour” for the untold stories of historic spaces, hidden symbolism and ancient wisdom inspirations.

Chinese New Year Floral Display – Dahlia Dreams at Gardens by the Bay

As usual, Gardens by the Bay never fails to enthral and exhilarate, and this time with their beautiful tiger-inspired floral-themed backdrop featuring the stunning River Hongbao lantern and Spring Fragrance blooms.  This breath-taking display is set amidst 2,000 showstopper Dahlias, Azaleas, Chrysanthemums and Cymbidiums.  To ring in the Year of the Tiger, there will also be auspicious decorations symbolising good fortune and prosperity such as couplets and giant coin pouches.

 

Creative Intersections: In the Year of the Tiger at Singapore’s Funan Mall

As part of Singapore Art Week 2022, Funan Mall’s Art -Meet-Retail program showcases Creative Intersections which is a collaboration between several artists and brands across various products and services.  The mall-wide event incorporates tigers as part of Singapore’s history, as well as whispered about myths and folklore.

Sumptuous Feasts at Michelin starred restaurants Shisen Hanten & Peony Jade

The Lunar New Year never misses its chance to invite all to savour delicious arrays of festive delights.

Shisen Hanten offers a range of eight auspicious-themed set menus that all come with a Yu Sheng platter.  The menus feature delectables such as abalone, bird’s nest, tiger prawns, and seasonal specials like Lotus Seed in Red Glutinous Rice Wine served with Golden Mantou, and specially handcrafted Poached Tiger Stripes Minced Pork Dumpling to mark the year of the Tiger.
