RIMOWA and German musical instrument manufacturer GEWA teams up for a special-edition violin case.
RIMOWA and GEWA, with centuries of German craftsmanship, have collaborated to create the ultimate violin case. Made in Germany, the resulting silver case is a stunning testament to the shared values of technical innovation and functional design that both companies embody. It is both strikingly beautiful and highly original, capturing the attention of violinists and bringing much-needed attention to their craft.
The specially-made case has guaranteed safety. It features a durable exterior made from RIMOWA’s signature grooved aluminium and GEWA’s neck pad system integrated within the case’s hand-finished microfiber interior. Additionally, the case comes with a flexible shoulder strap, which allows the violinist to carry it on their back.
Suited for violin sizes 4/4 and 3/4, the case is equipped with a hygrometer and a humidifier to control the case’s humidity levels. While also offering a string tube, an accessories storage compartment and a protective blanket for the instrument.
In celebrating the exclusive creation, RIMOWA accompanied renowned French soloist and chamber musician Renaud Capuçon on his journey to New York City carrying his precious instrument. These special moments were captured before his performance at Carnegie Hall.
As a friend of the brand, the new violin case silver was an obvious choice to carry and protect The ‘Panette Stern.’ His prized instrument built by Guarneri ‘del Gesù dates back to 1737.
“Having used RIMOWA suitcases for decades, it’s an honour to now take part in the release of the new RIMOWA x GEWA Violin Case,” says Capuçon.
Available on March 23rd, the RIMOWA x GEWA violin case is retailing around MYR16,400 and will be available at selected RIMOWA stores in limited quantities. Stay tuned for more info.
