It was in 2017 when golfer Brooke Henderson became an official Rolex Testimonee, just three years after turning professional. The year before, the golf prodigy clinched her first Major championship. At the time, she was just 18 years old, becoming the youngest ever victor of the Women’s PGA Championship. Fast forward six years and Brooke Henderson was hoisting another Major trophy high at The Amundi Evian Championship 2022.

And it didn’t stop there. Now at 27, Brooke Henderson has become a 13-time LPGA Tour winner and three-time Olympian, thus far. Her prowess and dedication to the sport has also seen her crowned the Canadian Press female athlete of the year in 2015, 2017 and 2018. As a Rolex Testimonee, Henderson now joins the ranks of iconic golfers who have elevated the sport to inspiring heights of greatness.

THE ROLE OF ROLEX IN WOMEN’S GOLF
Rolex has been a committed partner of women’s golf for more than 40 years. The watchmaker is also the Official Timekeeper of the Amundi Evian Championship. Held annually on The Champions Course at the Evian Resort Golf Club, between the shores of Lake Geneva and the foot of the Alps, this year marks the 30th anniversary of the tournament. We talk to Brooke Henderson about Rolex’s relationship with golf, and her personal take on the Amundi Evian Championship.
What are your overall thoughts about Rolex’s long-standing support of golf?
I think that it is amazing that Rolex has supported the game of golf for over fifty years. Its longstanding support has helped grow and elevate the game in an immense way – which is really exciting.
Rolex continues to push and develop the game today through its unwavering support to both the amateur and professional game. This remains extremely important, especially on the women’s side. I think that what Rolex is doing is truly amazing.

The Amundi Evian Championship has become a reference point in the women’s game. Can you please tell us a bit about what this tournament means to you?
The Major championships are always a focus for me in setting out my schedule for the year as the aim is to peak my performance during those particular weeks. This championship, in particular, has always been one that I enjoyed but it became that much more special after 2022. Winning my second Major championship and lifting the trophy was such an amazing moment and one that I will always remember.

With a victory in 2022 and a second place finish at the tournament last year, what is it about this course that suits your game?
I feel like my game is well suited for Major championships as they test you as a player both physically and mentally. At The Amundi Evian Championship, the conditions are quite different from any other golf course we compete at due to the differing slopes which makes it a very challenging week. I enjoy testing all elements of my game.
The tournament is staged at one of the sport’s most challenging and visually stunning venues. Do you get to spend much time away from the golf course during the tournament week?
During the tournament, I try to remain as focused as possible to perform at the highest level, but I do always find some time to take in the fantastic scenery around The Amundi Evian Championship. I enjoy the social events throughout the week and spending time with tournament partners and fellow Rolex Testimonees away from the golf course. I like exploring the town of Évian-les-Bains, eating the great food, and walking down the historic streets.
