Louder than life—Jovynn is commanding the world with her music

As a whooping crowd of sweaty bodies and sweaty palms sway underneath the psychedelic lights, Jovynn sets the world ablaze with her meteoric rise to superstardom—filling the space with sounds so commanding. Louder than life, the DJ and music artist is reigning in the male-dominated industry effortlessly—without an ounce of intimidation. “There’s a lot of misogynistic people in this world and in this industry, but I think a lot of talented female DJs are out there proving them wrong,” said Jovynn. Not cowing, she has fought for recognition, orchestrating a path that puts her in the spotlight—the mambo jumbos of music legends. 

“The earliest core memory I have of music is finding Michael Jackson and Britney Spears’ album in my parents’ collection and instantly falling in love with the instrumental sounds of it,” Jovynn recalled. Equipped with scores of music, Jovynn attributes her triumphs to this moment. “It’s my whole life and I can’t live a day without listening to music,” she said. Music is essentially a means of catharsis for her. 

Known to create goosebumps and ignite adrenaline, Jovynn owes her whole career to social media. “Releasing mashups on TikTok started as a joke,” she explained. But, it suddenly swept her into one of the highest points of her life—playing to crowds at nightclubs, festivals and more. Without any blueprint, she kept producing and remixing music that ended up being watched and listened to by millions of people on TikTok. “When I saw that people were appreciating what I was putting out, I just kept doing it consistently. It helped a lot with the growth,” she said.

The intricacies of her talent lie in her warmth, quirkiness and of course, genre-fluid music taste. “I’ve gone through a variety of phases all inspired by the different parties I’ve attended. It has changed over the years and it will keep on changing.” Revelling the grit and glory of her achievements, she explains “I get inspired listening to new tracks every day and at the moment a song that’s on repeat is C-U-N-T-Y by Fei-Fei.” She also expressed that her favourite album will forever be Fletcher’s You Ruined New York City For Me and her favourite band is Maneskin—all of which showcases her multifarious taste in music. “Listening to these musicians helped me experiment with different styles and sounds.”

Ticking off some really big dreams, the DJ is constantly giving her fans tingles deep in the bones by tapping into different music scenes. “I want to create something that will make all the girls strut and dance,” she explained. Relying on Victoria De Angelis as her music icon, Jovynn is also finding inspiration from the Italian musician, catapulting her into a new echelon. 

So much of her work seamlessly blends music and fashion—making Jovynn’s status in fashion undeniably apparent. Making the majority of her sartorial decisions herself, she has created a unique style—“a little alternative and messy”. Taking inspiration from Hailey Williams and more, she has made an icon of herself when it comes to fashion. Always relying on her Alaia ring, clogs and pants with pockets, she has developed a refined, casual appeal. “Trends will come and go, find something that is uniquely you and the world will remember you for it,” she said. “Fashion has always been a huge part of my everyday life. I love dressing up because it brings me more confidence.” And for her, it’s always a fun way to recharge.

But, for a modern superstar who can and does do it all, Jovynn also likes to find balance and calmness amid her chaotic schedule by disconnecting from the world, meditating and taking a nap for a mental reset. “Resting is a form of productivity too, so I use my breaks wisely and do what I need to do,” she profused.

Off the stage, Jovynn is as simple as it gets. While DJing takes up the bulk of her time, she loves starting the day with a cup of matcha latte, discovering new music on Spotify, FaceTiming her mom and marinating skincare all over her skin. Her day-to-day mantra is always producing 70 per cent of the time and consuming the other 30 per cent. “I love taking time off doing all of my hobbies—making music and journaling.” Giving her a sense of peace, her favourite things to do are a way for her to find special things in a simple moment. Through it all, her main focus is prioritising the good and living her life wholesomely.

When asked what helps her go on day-to-day, “The people who were there for me since day one—the ones that believed in my vision and are still supporting me to this day. They are my whole world.” They are the ones who unfolded her dream into a reality. After years of turbulence, these were the people who gave her an unprecedented level of courage—making sure she strived to be anything she wanted to be. So, now Jovynn is doing the best she can always championing young girls and women to never give up, break the barriers and constantly do good.

Always campaigning positive vibes, she’s relentlessly rising like a phoenix with this ethos—becoming an unwavering force in the music industry. She’s someone who is passionate, outspoken, fearless and takes on the world and then some. Painting the scene for us, we can expect new releases with some of her favourite artists and talented singers in the future. Nothing can stop her from dominating with her music-making.
