Guests from across the region gathered for an unforgettable night filled with music, movement and magic. Among the crowd were Chanel friends such as Eyka Farhana and Christinna Kuan—who aptly described the fragrance as “juicy and joyful.” The evening’s crescendo was an exclusive premiere of the Chance Eau Splendide campaign film, starring none other than Belgian singer-songwriter Angèle. The artist herself took to the stage shortly after, performing a selection of her songs—including a new one composed especially for the campaign. The night was further enlivened by dynamic performances from regional artists Ally (Achiraya Nitibhon), Yichun Shan, LANA and 9m88, underscoring the universal language of music that echoed throughout the space.

Angèle, the newest égérie for Chance Eau Splendide, was not only the face of the campaign but also one of its most intimate collaborators. We had the rare opportunity to sit down with the artist while in Tokyo, to delve deeper into her creative process, her personal connection to the fragrance, and what “chance” truly means to her.
“Chance is something that you can’t always control,” Angèle reflects thoughtfully. “But it’s also something you can choose to take. There’s this beautiful duality of freedom and intuition—of staying open to what life offers you.” It’s a perspective that aligns seamlessly with Gabrielle Chanel’s own sentiment that “Chance is my soul”—a quote that reverberates throughout the campaign.
For Angèle, the collaboration was more than a fragrance endorsement—it was a creative invitation. She composed the campaign song after smelling the perfume, allowing its essence to inspire the melody and lyrics. “It all came together very naturally,” she says. “The writing and composing happened almost in a day. Then I spent a few weeks perfecting the production, but the heart of the song—its emotion—was immediate.” The music, much like the fragrance, captures something spontaneous and joyful, yet wholly intentional.
Working with renowned director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, known for his rich visual language, further deepened the experience. “He let me be entirely myself. I was free to propose whatever I wanted,” Angèle recalls. “And he brought this incredible craftsmanship to the shoot—creating a miniature model of the mirrored set so the camera could move without reflection. It was so detailed, so precise, and so inspiring.”
Her experience with legendary photographer Steven Meisel, who shot the campaign visuals, was equally profound. “I’ve done many shoots before, but this one was special,” she says. “It was secretive, exhilarating, and deeply intentional. To work with people who are as passionate as I am about their craft—it was magical.”
Angèle’s ritual with scent is just as intuitive as her music-making. “I like to spritz the perfume in the air and walk into it,” she laughs. “I think it makes the scent less concentrated and more ethereal.” Scent, for her, is deeply tied to memory and emotion. She always keeps the same aroma in her dressing room to feel grounded—and she affectionately admits that the smell of her dog is one of the most comforting scents in her life.
When asked how Chance Eau Splendide fits into her personal style, Angèle smiles: “It’s new, dynamic and full of surprise. Every time I wear it, it reveals something different. I’m curious to see how people will start to wear it too, and whether I’ll begin to recognise it in the air.”
So how does she hope her story, and her role as the face of this fragrance, might resonate with a new generation of women? “Stay free. Trust your gut. Stay close to yourself,” she says with conviction. “That’s where real power lives.” And in three words? “Luck, play, music.” A perfect summary of Chance Eau Splendide—and of the radiant spirit now fronting it.
