It’s not often you get to experience an entire fragrance wardrobe in one sitting—but that’s exactly what the BAZAAR team did when we stepped into the newly renovated YSL Beauty boutique at Mid Valley Megamall. Sleek and striking in its design, the refreshed store set the perfect stage for exploring Le Vestiaire des Parfums, the maison’s most exclusive fragrance collection.
Inspired by Yves Saint Laurent’s most iconic couture pieces—from the sharply tailored tuxedo to the rebellious see-through blouse—the collection reimagines fashion as scent. Each perfume in the range is designed as an olfactory translation of the designer’s style legacy, infused with elegance, empowerment, and a touch of androgyny.
After an immersive tour through the entire collection, each of us found a personal favourite—fragrances that resonated with our own taste, identity, and style. Here’s what we chose:
Alisha’s Pick: Muse
The newest addition to Le Vestiaire des Parfums, Muse feels like ink on skin—quietly powerful, utterly creative, and beautifully unexpected. Inspired by the very ink Yves Saint Laurent used to sketch his iconic silhouettes, this scent captures that sense of artistic mystery in perfume form.
Crafted by Marie Salamagne, the fragrance opens with incense and clary sage, then unfolds into a soft iris and ambrette heart, before settling into a trail of warm vanilla and ambery woods. There’s a dusky, almost metallic feel to it—musky and woody, yet softened by the powdery richness of orris. To me, Muse feels both structured and fluid. It’s got a slightly masculine edge, but with an elegance that leans feminine—just like the YSL muses it pays tribute to.
Amalina’s Pick: Tuxedo
There’s something unapologetic about Tuxedo. It’s bold, magnetic, and impossible to ignore. Built around the richness of patchouli, this fragrance is equal parts sharp and sensual. You get the spice of black pepper and coriander right off the top, balanced by a hint of bergamot that keeps things crisp. At its heart, rose and lily add softness, while a warm ambergris and vanilla base give it depth and sophistication.
I was immediately drawn to its woody, earthy warmth—it’s the kind of scent I’d reach for on a night out when I want to feel confident and polished. For me, Tuxedo is the olfactory equivalent of a perfectly tailored blazer: classic, structured, and cool without trying too hard.
Syameen’s Pick: Blouse
Light, romantic, and airy—Blouse is the fragrance equivalent of a spring breeze through chiffon. Just like the sheer blouse that inspired it, this scent feels feminine but not fussy. It’s soft but not sweet.
The star here is rose, but not in a conventional way. It’s the Damascena rose—lush, luminous, and given an edge with a green, peppery twist. Galbanum and bergamot add a fresh, herbaceous brightness, while angelica and musk bring a musky undertone that anchors the floral softness. There’s also Cashmeran in the base, which gives it a clean, smooth warmth. And as someone who loves floral notes, this one instantly transported me to a botanical garden. It’s delicate and pretty, but also modern and unexpected.
What makes Le Vestiaire des Parfums so special is its ability to mirror the spirit of YSL’s most revolutionary designs through scent. Each fragrance is a character, a memory, a moment in fashion history. Whether you’re drawn to the sensuality of Muse, the boldness of Tuxedo, or the romantic clarity of Blouse, there’s a piece of couture bottled up for everyone.
