Prada A/W ’25 Plays with the Unexpected to Redefine Feminity

For its A/W ’25 collection, Prada offers edgy aesthetics with oversized silhouettes and bright, subversive elements.

Co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons turn expectations of what an Autumn/Winter wardrobe should look like on its head. On one hand, they lean into typical silhouettes for the colder seasons with blazers, leather jackets, and fur coats. That said, true to Prada’s left-of-field approach, the silhouettes are rendered with an oversized twist. 

 

On the other hand, they completely reject seasonal ideals. Thus, bright neons and florals are incorporated into what is traditionally a more sombre colour palette. 

 

Subversive Styling

The collection also serves as an exercise of creativity in which the two designers explore how femininity is performed and perceived.

It is the motivation behind many subversive stylistic decisions, such as altering proportions to warp how the body is seen, especially on traditionally feminine frocks and skirts.

 

On dresses with coquettish bows and oversized buttons, they leave seams raw and exposed. 

 

Additionally, glamorous jewels take its place dangling from thick knits and simple shirts. 

 

Ultimately, the collection unfolds as deeply layered study. One where Prada and Simons invite women to engage in some introspection to reassess their relationship to fashion, from how they feel to how they express themselves through it.
