Byredo Is Officially in Kuala Lumpur
Byredo has officially landed in Kuala Lumpur with the opening of its first Malaysian boutique at Suria KLCC—an important milestone for the Stockholm-founded fragrance house and a long-awaited moment for those who have followed the brand from afar.

Byredo lands in Kuala Lumpur with its first boutique at Suria KLCC. Here are the fragrances our friends of BAZAAR favour.
Founded in 2006 by Ben Gorham, Byredo built its reputation by treating fragrance as a personal narrative rather than a fixed formula. From the beginning, the brand has resisted rigid classifications, instead favouring scents that sit in the grey area between memory, mood, and identity. Over time, this philosophy has extended beyond perfume into make-up, body care, and home objects.

The Suria KLCC boutique reflects this approach. Rather than overwhelming the senses, the space is designed to slow you down. Natural materials, muted tones, and deliberate proportions guide the experience, encouraging visitors to engage with each scent and object at their own pace. There’s a tactile quality to the store—stone, wood, textile—that mirrors the way Byredo fragrances tend to unfold on skin: quietly, gradually, and with intention.
During the boutique’s soft launch last week, we caught up with a few familiar names to find out which Byredo scents they return to—and what draws them in.
For Jane Chuck, Animalique stood out for its instinctive, almost skin-like quality. The fragrance opens bright but quickly softens, settling into something warmer and more intimate. There’s a subtle tension between polish and rawness that makes it feel expressive without being overpowering.
Both Juwei Teoh and Ridduan (TTFGA) gravitated towards Mojave Ghost, a Byredo classic that continues to resonate for its understated elegance. Light and airy on first impression, it carries a quiet depth that lingers close to the skin.
For Ashley Lau and Lisha Ho, Mixed Emotions captured something more introspective. The scent moves between warmth and edge, comfort and uncertainty, reflecting the layered emotional states of modern life. It’s the kind of fragrance that reveals itself slowly, resonating most with those drawn to complexity rather than clarity.
With its first boutique now open in Kuala Lumpur, Byredo offers more than just access to its products—it offers a space to engage with scent in a quieter, more personal way. With this just being their soft launch, we can’t wait for them to carry and introduce more scents and pieces of the brand.
