A whole lot of mystery and adventures to uncover, the iconic Scooby-Doo franchise is set to make a comeback. Together with Berlanti Productions and Netflix, the latest iteration of the Mystery Inc. adventures will explore how the crew is brought together—starting with a haunting case that sets it all in motion.
For decades, the Scooby-Doo gang has gone out of their way to solve supernatural-themed mysteries. As they go on every case, travelling in the “Mystery Machine” van and unmasking human villains, the thought of how it all began lingers in every true fan’s mind. While there are multiple renditions—both animated and live-action—of how the gang was formed, the upcoming live-action series sheds a new light on the craft of their origin story. Famously, the “Scooby-Doo” franchise began in 2002, starring Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, and Linda Cardellini with Neil Fanning voicing Scooby.
On 17 February, it was also announced that Mckenna Grace (who stars in “Regretting You” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2“) will play Daphne Blake in the live-action series. However, the role is no stranger to Grace as she has voiced the young version of the character in the 2020 animated film “Scoob!”. What is the Scooby-Doo live-action series about?
Quoted from Variety, “During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne (Grace) get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.”
Who stars in Netflix’s Scooby-Doo?
At the moment, Mckenna Grace is the only star confirmed to play Daphne. We will be expecting to hear who joins the cast as Fred, Shaggy and Velma.
How many episodes will there be?
The live-action series is slated to release eight episodes.
Is the show currently in production?
Yes, the show is set to film in Atlanta in April 2026.
