There has been a noticeable rise in head spas across Malaysia of late, with new openings promising better scalp health and deeper relaxation. Yet few feel quite as transportive as KANTIK by GOYO. After debuting its first location at KLGCC Mall towards the end of last year, the brand expanded with a second, more immersive concept at The Exchange TRX. This newer outpost is where we checked in for our latest Wellness Wednesday visit, and it may well be one of the most distinctive head spa experiences in Kuala Lumpur right now.

Stepping into KANTIK feels less like entering a mall spa and more like crossing into a quiet courtyard somewhere in Seoul. The space draws inspiration from traditional Hanok architecture, with warm wood, soft lighting and layered, considered design that cocoons you from the outside world. It is one of the first times we have seen something like this executed in Kuala Lumpur. Privacy is central to the experience. Every treatment takes place in a fully private room, with dedicated women-only zones and discreet corridors. For Muslimah guests or those who wear the hijab, this makes the spa not only appealing but accessible too. 

Before my treatment began, I was offered a choice of Korean wellness teas. What I quietly appreciated was that the tea stayed with me throughout. Instead of being removed once I entered the treatment room, it followed me in, allowing me to sip as I relaxed. It is a small gesture, but one that sets the tone for an unhurried experience.

I opted for the Hydration Ritual, a 105-minute pairing of Premium Headspa and Hydro Facial. I am always drawn to treatments that address more than one concern at a time, and this combination allows you to care for both scalp and skin in a single sitting.

The session began upright with every head spa offered here beginning with an AI-powered scalp analysis and consultation. Even though this was not my first head spa experience, I still learnt something new about my scalp and how daily habits can affect its condition.

Tonics were then applied and worked thoroughly into the scalp. The massage incorporated a traditional Korean tool that felt robust but purposeful, stimulating circulation and easing tension around the crown and temples. Once the products were absorbed, my hair and scalp were all wrapped up and I was guided to the treatment bed.

Before beginning the facial, my therapist fitted individual leg massagers onto my calves. For the remainder of the treatment, I enjoyed a continuous leg massage. It is such a thoughtful addition and one I have not experienced during a facial before. It elevated the entire session into something far more immersive. The Hydro Facial focused on deep hydration rather than extractions, leaving my skin feeling replenished and comfortably plump. There was no redness, just a healthy, well-rested glow.

Attention then returned to the scalp for the signature Waterfall Rinse. Inspired by Korean onsen traditions, a steady cascade of warm water flows rhythmically over the scalp. Beyond the sensory pleasure, the even pressure helps relax cranial muscles, support circulation and ensure products are thoroughly yet gently removed. When the treatment concluded and my hair was dried, my scalp felt remarkably light and refreshed. The experience ended with a styling session, with the option to keep my hair natural or add soft curls, a welcome finishing touch before stepping back into the city.

Despite being located within one of Kuala Lumpur’s busiest retail hubs, the space is impressively soundproofed. There were no stray announcements or background noise to interrupt the calm.
