Honouring the past, amplifying the future—BAZAAR Women of the Year 2026 celebrates the women whose music moves more than just a room. For Volume 1, we turn our spotlight to the new generation—the bold, the boundary-breaking and the ones writing the next verse. Meet Jovynn.
We last met Jovynn in 2024—louder than life—for our New Gen digital cover. Since then, the DJ and music artist have been everywhere—Canada, India, Australia and Southeast Asia. Possessing a genuine star quality, she’s curated a palpable connection with her audience—playing night after night at some of the world’s most prestigious clubs, festivals and locations with sounds so commanding.
Surprisingly unguarded, thoughtful and confident, Jovynn has proven to be a creative force that refuses to stop dreaming and rising to superstardom. “There are still a lot of misogynists in the scene—not a lot of people will take you seriously and will underestimate you. You just have to stand your ground and set boundaries.” Unapologetically bold, she has commanded her ascent—carving a luminous path through the hallowed ranks of music’s icons.
Remaining unwavering in her vision since the early days of her music career has led Jovynn into her most pivotal year yet. Though her meteoric rise, like all great ones, was forged from humble beginnings. She began her journey at a DJ academy, but when the pandemic brought the world to a standstill, she turned adversity into opportunity—investing in her own beginner’s deck and using the stillness of those uncertain days at home to sharpen her craft entirely on her own terms.“If you put your mind into what you’re passionate about and keep being consistent at improving, you will get to where I’m at eventually,” she said. Without any blueprint, she kept producing music that ended up being watched and listened to by millions of people. “I hope that with what I’m doing, it’ll help to inspire others to continue with their passion, no matter how much struggle it takes.”

Breaking into any industry is no small feat, but carving out space in a world long defined by its boys’ club mentality requires something altogether different—a defiance and an unshakeable sense of confidence For Jovynn, navigating the male-dominated landscape of the DJ scene was a reality she met head-on, and the terrain, she notes, has shifted significantly since she first found her footing. “When I first started, I didn’t really have much female friends to gain advice from or to even have connections,” she recalled. “But now things have changed, fortunately, and I’m super happy that more female DJs are getting recognised and appreciated.”
Walk us through what creating a set actually looks like, I asked. For Jovynn, the process is both an art and an instinct—one that begins long before she ever steps behind the decks.“I always put my favourite tracks in my set lists, and I would listen to them constantly on flights—memorising them in my head,” she explained. Knowing how to build energy without burning the crowd out too soon is everything, she explains. With most festivals capping sets at an hour, she leans into familiarity—playing songs she loves and that people know. In underground clubs, however, the approach shifts entirely, taking the crowd on a gradual journey from slower BPMs to higher ones, letting the energy rise organically. “But, most importantly, a good set is when a flow is set right.” She added: “A lot of my inspiration comes from what’s going on in this world, and from my own emotions towards it.”
When asked what success looks like to her now versus five years ago, she responded: “having a balanced mental health and a good sleeping schedule.” But beneath that simplicity lives an ambition that is anything but small. Her sights are set on expanding her community and creating music that moves people on a deeper level—whether it is drawn from her own lived experiences that others can see themselves in, or simply music that brings joy and gives listeners a story of their own to carry with them. Through it all, her main focus is prioritising the good and living her life wholesomely.

But, for all its glamour, life on the road carries a quietness that few speak of openly—and Jovynn is refreshingly candid about the solitude that can shadow even the most exhilarating of successes. “Sometimes touring can feel a little lonely,” she revealed. “I wish I could bring my dog everywhere with me,” she added. Yet she is quick to note that she is far from alone in this journey. Anchored by the unwavering support of her family and friends, who have stood beside her through every milestone and every dream she has dared to chase, she moves through it all with a sense of quiet gratitude. And then there is her dog—her most constant companion and, as she puts it, her greatest motivation. It is a reminder, perhaps, that beneath the spotlights and the setlists, it is the smallest and most sacred things—faith, love, and the people and creatures who choose us—that truly keep us going.
