All eyes are on Gigi Hadid this holiday season. Not only has she just dropped her beauty collaboration with Maybelline but now she’s teamed up with Stuart Weitzman this holiday season. Hadid has designed her second range of footwear from last year’s lace-up boot and now the model has turned her eye to the trusty mule.
The pointed-toe mules was the first project for Stuart Weitzman’s new creative director Giovanni Morelli who worked very closely with Hadid to reflect her own sleek style. Hadid’s version is influenced by her personal fascination with the mystic symbol of the “evil eye”.
“It’s a powerful symbol meant to protect those who wear it from negative energies. It’s emotionally comforting and beautiful and captivating to look at. The bright colors are fun and remind me why we designed these shoes — they represent our commitment to build three additional schools with Pencils of Promise. Look Good, Do Good.” – Gigi Hadid
The new collaboration features two styles – the EyeLove (in ballet and deep indigo suede, with one eye motif) and the EyeLoveMore (in frosted grey suede with multiple eyes) – each lined with shearling. “I’ve really been into slides lately and wanted a pair that can take me into fall… no more cold toes!” says Hadid.
As with the model’s previous design partnership with Weitzman, this collection has a charitable aspect; these mules are a celebration of the designer’s ongoing relationship with non-profit organisation Pencils of Promise – which aims to increase educational opportunities in the developing world – and its financial commitment of $105,000 to build an additional three schools this year: one each in Ghana, Guatemala and Laos.
Malaysia will be carrying the collection in-stores by the end of November 2017.
